The Artist’s & Writer’s Corner Merge: Vision & Perspective

For this week, Whimsical Wednesdays and Monday Musings are coming together from each corner of my worlds – both the artist and writer me – to share an emerging theme of vision and perspective. Since everything is interconnected, it wasn’t a surprise to me to hear from a very tapped-in friend about this theme swirling around in her life and my “seeing” it sneak through with the experiences people are having on a wider scale. And, of course, it hit home here both with myself and my partner, Dave.

Perhaps some of you may chime in as well on this.

Vision and perspective feels important, as it relates to everything shifting so much in the way we are experiencing the world and collective right now. There seems to be a call to alter our perceptions overall and even a mass movement in terms of the things more people are becoming ready to see now. As layers of the veil peel back, we are being asked to see with new eyes and trust what is being shown/felt because that will be more key in creating a different reality than the one we may have thought was the only version of reality available.

As I mentioned, this has been popping up in our own ways here, as just this last week Dave went through a scary experience of discovering he had a detached retina that had potential implications of loss of eye sight if it hadn’t been caught in time, or if the procedure didn’t work. It was a whole very interesting and involved process to go through with quite advanced technology used to fix this, but in the end he avoided having to have the more invasive surgery under general anesthesia, as the first procedure has been successful.

He’s currently recovering this week, but it definitely was “eye-opening” on many levels.

Interestingly, this last Sunday I decided to try some reading glasses for the first time and bought some. I had bad vision when young – was legally blind in fact – and wore contacts/glasses until around 30 or so when I finally decided to have lasik surgery to correct it. I’d always been afraid of doing the surgery, or didn’t want to see on some level, and then embraced that and it was like woah! So weird to see so clearly – like everything was surreal.

My distorted vision had kept me “feeling” safe all of those years, and now I was ready to expose myself and support my gifts, rather than suppress them.

Anyway, until just last summer, I hadn’t gone back to an eye doctor since, because I had better than 20/20 vision. I started noticing some shifts and had them checked out and they said I’m starting to shift now in all ways – near and far sighted, along with some slight astigmatism. However, my prescriptions were so low that it wasn’t recommended I had to get them filled since they’d likely change a lot. It was felt that I could think about it in a year or two when they shift more or just pick up some over-the-counter readers at the store.

I hadn’t done that until now, feeling maybe I would try it out and transition myself slowly. I actually have come to love glasses as I’ve grown older and admire them on people, unlike the younger me who was more self-conscious about it and preferred the blurry world when I didn’t need to see clearly like in school, work, or while driving. I feel that they also add a layer to one’s personality and personal style. Perhaps they may even be more fitting to the artist/writer me I’m evolving into.

IMG_20190506_161423465

My mom ended up giving me some readers that she had and I got another super cheap pair after these first ones you see here, so I have five now at different levels to see what works best or to transition with.

What I’ve found interesting and synchronous to all of this is that while these vision and eye shifts have been taking place, I’ve noticed another big shift in perspectives and approach to my life, overall, which in essence is speaking to what I feel is more alignment.

I know very clearly the type of artist I am now and what I truly love painting and how.

I also was shown that my art is more about being an outlet for creative expression and joy when I feel moved in that direction and not something that feels to be a vocation, but more so an extension of simply who I am.

My writing feels more evolutionary for me – not necessarily that I see it vocationally either, but much more deepening and expanding in terms of growth and moving me out of all comfort zones, as well as facilitating creative expression as a honed in skill that merges and balances both sides of my brain, and that returns me to my more natural self – and voice.

It makes sense that my novel is also going through a huge shift too, which is a result of my stepping away from it for so long and returning now with “fresh perspective.”

I’ve been taking this return in steps, as I think I’ve mentioned before, and creating bite-sized morsels with it that create less overwhelm and more immediate levels of accomplishment, while also remaining detached from any end result ideas.

I envision a lot of work ahead, but the process being much more reflective of where I am now.

The steps I’ve taken so far have been researching a lot of links and books, both my editor had suggested, and ones I felt led to, and printing out the entire manuscript, then page-by-page marking it up with notes and highlighting that didn’t translate when I printed it on our only black and white printer.

Currently, I’m rereading the manuscript and journaling while I do so – both taking notes of major things I want to keep in mind for overall shifts I’ll be making and also somewhat processing my thoughts and ideas on where I may go with things.

Once I’m done reading I’ll have a greater handle on the direction, as I want to let the entire journey guide me, rather than make any decisions yet.

Everyone has their own process, but I’m learning to create mine and what works best for me, along the way.

I had no idea what I threw myself into when first I embarked on this writing adventure, as it is nothing like my first book I quickly pulled together and self-published, and nothing like what I had first envisioned it was going to be.

I’ve simply been embracing every twist and turn along the journey.

I literally jumped off the cliff and am now getting a crash course on what all is involved, learning along the way, and going through the growing pains rather fast – thank you to my editor!

I could never have done it before or had the ability to step back from personal investment in something, as I can now. And even since last I completed the first draft, it’s amazing to see how much I’ve shifted and my perspective has expanded, which of course translates into a whole new story!

IMG_20190507_154758537a.jpg

My current reading and journaling stage is perfectly aligned for Dave’s downtime week, as I’m able to take my manuscript with me while we enjoy long beach days now that the weather is so nice and we’re in the shoulder season without crowds or noise lakeside – minus a few birds who like to come around and offer their perspective. 😉

Interestingly, yesterday we saw a bald eagle fly above us. She or he was then air-wrestling with a raven who likely wasn’t too excited the eagle was nearby. Our second bald eagle sighting in the last couple of weeks – so yes vision is definitely on a high!

Bald eagles symbolize the courage to look ahead and great vision.

Pure Spirit shares: When an eagle appears, you are on notice to be courageous and stretch your limits. Do not accept the status quo, but rather reach higher and become more than you believe you are capable of. Look at things from a new, higher perspective. Be patient with the present; know that the future holds possibilities that you may not yet be able to see. You are about to take flight.

I also recently shifted camera perspective on myself in a literal kind of way and rather than just sharing photos via my social media avenues, I’ve been nudged into adding some self-videos now and then that remove the barrier that a photo can still create and welcomes people into my world with a more personal, transparent experience of who I am and what my daily world is like.

Recently, I shared a look into my creation space, which the photo at my desk above is from, offering an insight to how I create a nurturing world around me that supports and inspires the dreamy worlds I imagine, via my writing and painting, into life.

I imagine, also, that things will continue to shift as my perspective widens and my vision adjusts into its new level of clarity.

Have any of you been experiencing themes around how perspective changes your experience, or having vision come up in literal or more symbolic ways – including perhaps even an emphasis on intuition stepping forward, more psychic vision becoming clarified, or things you didn’t see before suddenly making sense and stepping out on the scene now?

IMG_20190508_110747566.jpg

I thought you might find this last photo fun. I also recently moved these two whimsical dolls into position right in front of me at my desk, so that when I’m working on my computer they are actually staring right at me – and me at them.

I find myself looking into their eyes often while writing and alongside all of the other friends in the creation space I share with Astrid, it’s amazing how many eyes are on me.

They have special meaning to me and are connected with my novel, symbolically representing two of the characters.

The perspective of seeing through their eyes, but mostly that they are seeing through to the heart of me, keeps me focused on that key piece.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Earth Day Thoughts

IMG_20190421_144806921_HDR.jpg

Happy Earth Day!

On days like today, when a day of celebration comes into the awareness of many, it is a reminder of the power that unification can be and helps drive home the message that integration is our means to wholeness, from the inside out.

We are all connected and our living, breathing Earth beats to the same rhythm of our hearts, as does the life force energy in everything embodies a consciousness that Universally has no boundary.

Yes, “be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

Truly embody that change daily, walk the walk, and watch the ripple effect that inevitably follows.

Open your heart to receive and to give to yourself so that you may give to and receive more fully from others.

This includes gifts of abundance on all levels, being able to hear and compassionately respond to each other, and even to be able to receive and hear the Earth and Cosmos in totality when they resonate their tones and frequencies that take our presence and consistent awareness to hear.

Celebrating Universal connection and exercising the power of integrative healing is a moment to moment, integral experience that is invaluable to practice on this beautiful Earth Day and beyond.

Remember who you are 💚

I shared this post on my social media pages, but know that not every one of my friends is on those platforms, so I’m sharing it here for you as well.

I plan to spend a portion of today out in nature – most importantly, writing a little, wrapping orders with love, and sharing a Reiki Healing Attunement for the Earth collective.

What are your plans?

earth day.jpg

Astrid has been extra excited and “hoppy” the last two days, with Easter and Earth Day following one another. She’s been racing around and playing with much spunk! I love it and she reminds us all to embrace and be present to that innocence within and experience life directly and clearly as it is in the delight of this moment.

She’s excited mom’s been anchoring in and getting serious about finishing our book. Many twists and turns down the rabbit hole have brought us back to center with it.

Writing is quite a journey – likely the most challenging and growth-oriented one to date for me. I thought teaching was a big deal to embrace, but I’ve come to find writing asks something new and different of me, and so I know why Astrid is here with me now to support that journey.

She’s also so grateful to everyone who’s been helping to raise funds for her bunny collective. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We’ve now raised $256 between auctions and 10% proceeds from sale. Let’s see if we can get to $300 for the bunnies – beautiful grounded embodiments and stewards of our Earth Mother.

The 30% off Easter Sale ends today.

We have items starting as low as $13.96 for prints and greeting cards, mini rabbit gardens as low as $30.76 and the rest including remaining Magick Rabbit talisman necklaces at huge discount that feature flowers galore, mermaid rabbits, Atlantean/Egyptian, dream/creativity, love, desert Moon, and star vibes. We’ve received some amazing reviews via Instagram on how the energies of these have helped their wearers return balance and peace immediately when under stress! In essence, they felt a return to their essence and center. I LOVE THAT!

Everything in our shop is all available at incredible prices that include FREE shipping in the U.S.

We have some great items to celebrate Earth Day too like Gaia’s Children and other “garden of life” delights. And of course bunnies galore.

If you’ve been eyeing something now’s a great opportunity to bring it home.

Wishing you a beautiful Earth Day with a reminder that Earth Day is everyday, as long as she is your home. Take care of her and she’ll take care of you.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Bedside Books

I haven’t shared anything new from The Writer’s Corner in a while, as I’ve had a lot of things on my plate and have been doing behind-the-scenes things with my book, but thought today we could do a short little share about what books we’re reading right now and have a special place by our bedside currently.

I read a lot of books in the previous months to help with my writing, then took a break again, but recently got back to reading while on vacation.

Prompted by seeing the new Watership Down BBC series at the end of the year, I knew I wanted to read the novel again, as I hadn’t since I was in 6th grade. So, I purchased a new copy on Amazon directly after watching the series – which I know I’ll be watching again.

It wasn’t until our time in Miami, and the travel to and from there, that I felt prompted to start reading it and continue to.

It sits by my bedside and is the last thing I read before heading off to dreamland.

I’m so happy I decided to read it again, as it’s such a wonderfully written novel and it feels to be activating a lot of things into alignment for me, including with my own novel that happens to also have anthropomorphic rabbits as the main characters.

I even was greeted by three GIANT jack rabbits upon landing back in Sacramento that were playing and hanging out in the open fields by our car that reminded me of Watership Down – Fiver’s dream home they come to find. Their black-tipped ears and scruffy, but wise demeanor reminded me of some of the characters – Bigwig and Blackberry to name a few. And literally they looked like they could have started talking, as they were so animated and human-like. It truly was such a magickal sighting and I knew I was in alignment with the course I’m currently on by being greeted back by them.

I was also given a book about teaching rabbits to learn things through a system of clicking. I’m not sure that it’s something I’ll use, as I have my own ways with Astrid, but there are some interesting insights with it that can be adapted in ways that resonate with me and may add to the bonded communication and partnership we share.

So, as you can see, currently I’ve shifted focus into rabbit books.

I shared that last summer I read my dear friend, Jean Brannon’s new novel, Atlantis Writhing. She currently has a different book, not the next in the series, coming out shortly that I’m looking forward to reading too that is about the lower leg Chakras.

What books are you reading or have recently enjoyed?

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Feeling the Point of No Return

I’m sharing a short blog today because I felt it might be helpful or resonant in some way for other writers, creatives, and people, in general, facing something challenging. After the last few days of having Cosmo and the bunnies stream into my experience so much, I found a lot of emotions flowing and then thoughts turning to my writing.

Much of which I can’t fully form into words.

Several days ago I did a reveal and reintroduction of myself on Instagram, sharing more transparency with facts about myself people may or may not know. I felt called to do so to help others who have experienced similar, to feel connection – as well as to support more courage in putting who you are out there more, by doing it myself.

All of it bringing me to an even more vulnerable, but enriching place of clarity even within the unknown.

In my revealing facts I shared that I am currently writing my second book that features rabbits as the main characters.

I don’t talk much about my book, as I’ve felt it to be very much a sacred experience and that has involved it also being a very emotional one as well.

Putting both together, this past weekend’s emotions flowing over things that came up around Cosmo and the bunnies, and my delving back into that sacred space of writing this story, I realized that I have a huge well of powerful emotions at the core of it all.

Not only are emotions one of the hardest things to write, because you don’t tell your readers about emotions by describing them or naming them. You convey and induce them by showing them and then allowing them to arrive to their own emotional responses and experiences of the worlds you create – to feel something beyond their normal feelings.

But I also find myself feeling extra sensitive about returning to these emotional places I remember in writing them in the first place and how powerfully they consumed me.

There is no separation between the writing world and real life for me.

Going back into that world feels exciting in terms of bleed-through in experiencing the realities merge, but also feels like the huge precipice of actual shift into a reality that will not be the same again, which I must be fully willing to step inside of.

There’s no return from this rabbit hole.

And there’s an ocean of emotions that are beyond the scope of this reality I feel awaiting me.

I’m not one to fear emotions and feelings.

No, this is more of a pause – a slow deliberation.

Kind of like my knee injury has forced me into slow and deliberate steps and lots of rest while healing and processing happens.

Writing the story was very emotional for me and now knowing I am needing to return back to it has my heart on edge, but not simply due to feeling these things, but what the feelings will create through completion.

I’ve poured myself into this creation, so far, even though it’s far from being complete. And having been able to step away from it has given me space from the feelings lying between the pages, as well as to reassess a lot.

And now, not only to return to them, but to dig even deeper, while making a decision that carries more weight than I may have realized, I feel is my next big challenge inviting me in.

The well of emotions is ready to pour out again.

And while that’s not a bad thing, I’m feeling the immensity of this project at a whole new level, which includes sharing another level of transparency and vulnerability past the onion layers I’ve constantly put out there, revisiting the feelings, and feeling both the scary and free of what the rabbits impregnated this story with that ignites the unknown.

Tomorrow, March 12th, marks the 18 year anniversary of my legally changing my middle name to become my official last name for life:

Tania Marie

It seems appropriate I am sharing and feeling this on the day before such a birthing into who I feel myself to be as spirit in human form this life, as a person, as a being, as a woman, as an artist, as a writer.

I’m curious what is entailed in the immensity I’m feeling around all of this, but the only way I’ll know is to leap in fully.

I’m happy I have Astrid and my rabbit friends by my side to journey deeper into the labyrinth underworld of the Cosmos.

Are any of you also feeling the immensity of something currently?

As if there’s very potent alchemy about to unfold from the next step you take?

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Hope, Birthing Anew & Birthday Celebration Sale

Today’s Musings are threefold. I’d like to first start off with a short reshare of part of a blog post I wrote over 3 1/2 years ago that feels important again. It speaks to fostering hope and how powerful it can be in your life. I know that many people are experiencing a wide range of things from having some pretty fantastic openings, finally getting over the threshold and starting something new, to experiencing some sudden roadblocks and unexpected changes that are perhaps confusing, frustrating, or disconcerting after feeling like things were moving along well.

While we’re still in Winter, we are in fact closing in on Spring Equinox when daylight will start to increase again and more illumination and growth will take place – basically reminding us that light always returns, new life, beginnings, and seeds of change are at hand.

It speaks to hope.

But wouldn’t it be nice to bring that light and hope with you all year round?

When things get “dark” why is it that we forget all of the experiences where the light shined again in our lives, or how good it felt when we gave ourselves the nurtured opportunity to have fun, explore, be creative, take a break, and recharge?

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” ~Desmond Tutu

I shared this once, but want to put it out there again…. I propose we each commit to taking a “Hope Holiday” on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, as seems most beneficial to your life and personal experiences.

What does that mean?

It means allowing yourself to hope and dream, creatively engaging your imagination and bringing the music of your heart into your every day, even if just for a couple of minutes of day-dreaming, journaling, or visualizing. Doing this to the extent that you give yourself permission to immerse so fully into that minute or two that your body tingles and sings from your heart with that “becoming” that takes place, as you get lost in your hopes.

This isn’t to deny that you may be experiencing something very dark and restrictive feeling, as that is a valid feeling to allow yourself to explore. But it is a way to actively engage yourself into learning how to make a safe space for your heart’s desires to see the light.

The more you do this, the more that part of you feels supported and begins to expand with your cultivated love, much like a garden.

Your couple of committed minutes of daily “Hope Holiday” journeying may turn into any opportunity in the day you find yourself worrying and going over your usual mental chatter religiously. You’ll soon discover how much more productive you are because your energy is being engaged in a way that can create more of the things you want. And this starts a ripple effect into manifestation.

Small seeds of hope become blossoms of creation.

“Hope is a waking dream.” ~Aristotle

Hope is a place all to yourself that no one can take away from you. It’s like a self-induced “holiday” you can take at any time, and go anywhere you’d like with it….it’s only limited by your imagination.

It is where you are free to dream and activate your creative potential as a powerful multi-dimensional, creative being.

There are unlimited possibilities because you are an extension of a limitless Source gifted with evolutionary experiences at your will’s choice.

~

I take many a “Hope Holiday,” but tomorrow being my birthday will have me creating even more space than a few minutes of that for myself.

Tomorrow I turn 46, which in and of itself is just a number, but numerologically does carry its own energy. It will be a different day for me on many levels and I plan to engage in some things that I love and that embody the energy of how I want to walk forth into this new life cycle.

Yesterday I celebrated my rabbit, Joy, who was my birthday gift to myself and from my rabbit, Nestor, 10 years ago. It is also fascinating that parts of the Amethyst Rabbit came home to me, which was connected to both of them, in time to celebrate my birthday too. And, my sweet friend, KC (aka Bean), pointed out that one of the pieces was in a new form of rabbit that looks exactly like Astrid when she stretches out relaxing. That reveal was similar to when I first took home the Amethyst and noticed the very distinct rabbit I had not seen initially. All things confirming what our hearts lead us to.

Lots of bunny love surrounding this time for me and that will lead to the third part of this share today, upcoming shortly.

I always feel a shift with each birthday, but this increasingly is happening the older I get. Things accelerating and many things finally feeling most naturally at peace and in flow.

This year will be a big year of focused work alongside creativity for me and feels like it will be pivotal on many fronts personally, as a union with my life partner, and from a wider scope of how I weave into the collective.

I have taken a break from my book in order to return with fresh perspective, but will be going full time back now after my birthday. It seems to be my focal point this year, feeling this is the year to finalize it. And I’m so grateful I now have abundant rabbit creativity flowing alongside it – my rabbit companions sure know just what I need to support and nurture the harder work I have ahead of me with that.

I’ll likely start sharing more about my book in the coming months, once I solidify more with it.

Although I love my new threefold series of blogs each week, there is chance this may evolve into only Ask Astrid Fridays, as she and I can cover a lot on those days and being that they are much more involved with tuning in, too, they do take a lot to put out there. So, we may expand that day’s blog, as a result and Monday and Wednesdays blogs either will go dormant for a while, or be more sporadic.

I’ll have to see how my schedule unfolds in the next couple of weeks, and will keep you posted.

~

That leads to the third part of this musing that ties us back into the “Hope Holiday” theme quite literally by sharing one of four new mini rabbit Faery gardens that will be hitting The Magick Rabbit Etsy shop tomorrow.

It’s titled, The Holiday, but in its description you’ll find much of what I shared here at start of this blog, as it embodies that message.

The Holiday.jpg

The Holiday close.jpg

In all, I will have 7 more mini themed worlds to add to the shop – these will be the last in general – but tomorrow you’ll see just 4 of them, as I will be starting on new items I’m excited to share with you soon.

Remember, however, if one of the mini gardens you love gets sold, I can replicate most of them. So, you can just let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

The other 3 new gardens will be in the shop likely by end of this week, or beginning of next. The last three will include a grand finale garden, and two micro mini gardens.

For now, here are the 3 others that will hit tomorrow. In order of photos they’re titled, Spring’s Promise: The Cosmic Egg, The Gift, and Believe.

I think you can kind of feel the theme of these new ones. 🙂

If you haven’t perused The Magick Rabbit yet, I think you might find it enjoyable even if you don’t find yourself purchasing something, as each mini rabbit Faery garden is a storybook world, just like the paintings.

Just looking at the images and then reading the first paragraph of each garden’s description will infuse inspiration and nurturing reminders.

We’ve spent a lot of meaningful time not only creating them with love, but sharing each of their stories with you.

I include either their mini story and/or energy they were created to share with you as daily reminders, mini guardians, or sacred altars.

As I like to say:

There’s a storybook tale within each creation to reflect your journey, as the adventure it is – all shared through the heart of one Magick Rabbit and one Rabbit Faery.

And as a tie-in with all of this I also would like to announce that the bunnies have inspired a celebration sale that will kick off tomorrow on my birthday – 2/26.

It will be a 3 day sale only 2/26 – 2/28, taking us to the end of February, as a cycle of activation and closure all at once.

This will be a 20% off store wide sale, to include the four new gardens with every $30 minimum purchase.

I believe it will go live at 12:01 pm my time tomorrow (PST), but it might click in earlier, as technical things have a mind of their own sometimes.

Our way of celebrating this new energy cycle the bunnies and I are embarking upon, while also celebrating the same for each of you if you feel drawn to bringing one of the energies of the creations and art into your life.

Thank you for all being a part of our lives and for helping to inspire these creations too. As while they come from our hearts, they are in answer to what we tune into out there.

If interested in exploring more of the creations in the shop and tomorrow’s sale you can find it all here:

The Magick Rabbit

Wishing everyone a wondrous Hope Holiday, however you choose to enjoy it.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Dreamer or Goal-Getter?

Dreamer or goal-getter? Do you feel one describes you more as a writer and person, in general? Or maybe you’re some of both? Many people may think of writers as introverts, dreamers, and maybe even eccentrics in some cases, but while I do feel that is true in many cases, I also feel that without the action and commitment part – that go and goal-getter side – those dreams won’t get to see the light of day.

And while you may feel you have more of one than the other, I DO feel that you can cultivate and nurture the one you feel is in less abundant flow for you.

Writers, especially fiction ones, are great at dreaming and yet the ability to set goals may be one that is lacking and therefore the dreams stay within their own experience and don’t get to be shared with the rest of the world that would benefit from those abundant dreams in story form. They may have some goal-getter in them, which helps them to write when they do, but not enough to either finish what they started, or take the steps to put it out to the world if they have.

Goal-getters, whether they feel themselves to be good writers or not, tend to bring forth things easier and get them out there. And in fact, that to me speaks to having a dream and putting it into action, regardless of whether or not the material comes from that dreamy place within you.

Yet, imagine, if we can marry both dreaming and goal-achieving in a healthier, more balanced way?

I think on some level all writers, and creatives, dream of being able to share their stories, visions, explorations, and the things they uncover along the journey. There’s that inner passion and/or compassionate part of them that would love to help touch and inspire people in some way, support the journey, or simply share their unique expressions that bring them joy.

Some goal-getters may be driven by achieving alone, but I’d like to believe that if you feel a strong drive for something it definitely speaks to something deeper.

If you find yourself more of a goal-getter and want to infuse it more with the dreamer, then things like allowing yourself the space to imagine, entering the world of wonder and curiosity more, receiving from time in nature, taking more time to meditate – perhaps with a dream-enhancing crystal or simply being still and inviting in your inner child, dancing, reading more fiction or watching fantasy movies, placing a little more whimsy around your writing space and home, free writing, doing creative visualization, etc. can all help to activate more of that part of you. And doing it on a regular basis will make it become more natural – or rather – invite in more of the nature of your essence as a creative being. It will also add that extra spark to the work you bring forth that will touch people on multiple levels.

If you find yourself dreaming only and having a hard time achieving goals and bringing forth your beautiful work to the world then your daily routine can benefit by setting goals – start with smaller more attainable ones and work your way up, keeping your space organized to focus energy, acknowledging yourself and giving gratitude for every step you do take, creating a schedule that makes time for all the things you want/need to accomplish in a day and stick to it – making it fun so you’ll enjoy this repatterning process, meditating on inviting more action-oriented energy into your life perhaps with a crystal of grounding, fiery and manifesting energy – focusing on bringing more drive, courage, focus, willingness to look at details, and even invoking more self-love (as this may aid having valuing your work and being more willing to put it out there) into your life, reading books with advice for writers from other published writers, working with an editor or writing mentor to help motivate each step, spending grounding time in nature, etc. all can help to cultivate and nurture more of the manifesting part of your essence to fully bring forth your stories into the light.

Balance is key and having both will go a long way, whether you’re a writer or not.

So, which do you feel you’re more of?

Do you think you might entertain inviting some more of the other into your world this year?

I feel I have both within me, but I tend to choose which to use more in some cases than others – creating a see-saw effect.

Slowly over the years, and more so recently, I’ve been lessening the severity of that up and down to marry them more together. Especially where the things of greatest importance to me are concerned.

So while my creativity used to be more behind-the-scenes or not as goal-oriented and my achieving side was all focused in non-creative ventures, these are now starting to walk more hand-in-hand. I am also focusing on any under the surface collective/family history patterns, as I’ve spoken about in recent posts, that are running through my veins and DNA. That’s the trickier part, but worth the effort.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Things That Help My Writing & Day Be More Successful

This is a very busy week for me, but I still want to make sure to get out a blog for today’s Monday Musings series from The Writer’s Corner. While I did have thoughts about a couple of other themes that came to mind to share (I’ll save them for the next times), I felt like providing a list of things that help me to be more successful with my writing each day, which also extends to anything else I have going on in my life – be it other creative projects or simply my day-to-day business and personal life.

So here’s a list of ten things that help me to be more productive, clear the energy, and jump start those creative juices. Many of them are my morning kick-offs, but overall are things that support my day and writing goals.

  1. Go to bed early and get up early – I used to be a night owl back in the day, but life changed and now I find that getting good sleep and getting up early support being more fresh and help me to get more done. I dream a lot and in sleep we go into the subconscious, so writing in the morning is a way to be closer to those creative thoughts and flow more before a more distinct separation between night and day happens. Writing in the morning is a way to ensure I get that time in before the day gets away from me.
  2. Find all the things I have to be grateful for and acknowledge and thank them – having a gratitude practice before bed and when I wake in the morning helps to not only infuse the day with positive energy, but puts me in a happier space, as well as helps set me up for manifesting more.
  3. Enjoy cozy breakfast time – I love having hot tea or a vegan latte in the morning with a yummy breakfast (small or large depending on my desire that day) to gently nurture me back to waking life from deep sleep. This warms me from the inside out and allows me time to go over my plans for the day. I’ll follow it up with a smoothie that accompanies my writing time.
  4. Clarify my priorities and my to-do’s for the day – Even though I am spontaneous and flow, I have found that having more structure actually helps me to get more done, so this includes making daily to-do lists and prioritizing what is most important to get done. I also have recently created a time-table schedule in which I allot time blocks for the things I need and want to do each day. This ensures I get a balance of everything in as well.
  5. Unplug from phones, emails, etc. – Once I get past the time allowed for relaxing with my morning beverage and snack, it’s unplug time. When writing, I don’t reply to anything else and shut down or ignore my phone. In order to be fully in the world of writing, I must be out of the outer world. I also know that for me, it can take time to get into a flow, so if I were to stop in between my writing for every little thing that comes up, this would break that flow and take me more time to get back into the groove. I find it crucial to disengage.
  6. Carve out a block of time – This goes with #4, but I find it important to emphasize separately. It’s important that I carve out what block or blocks of time are my writing times and that I stick to that – both not allowing other things to get in the way, and not becoming lazy that day. That’s not to say that I will force myself, but I find that the more I get into a groove with something that seems foreign to me, the more it becomes natural. Discipline and commitment are my friends and not the enemies.
  7. Moving – Carving out time for exercise is important for me. This includes being out in nature as I do so – double the benefit! Moving moves energy and when I move energy, I’m not only releasing any potential blockages, but I’m getting a healthy flow of ideas and feelings going, as well as boosting my energy, well being, and helping me to get better sleep at night too. Moving energy helps move creativity.
  8. Music – I love having music accompany my day and/or special projects/my writing. Having just the right sound frequencies going really helps synchronize things for me and supports that flow even more. Music is a necessary component for me and my life.
  9. Being present – For me this is mindfulness and “life as a walking meditation.” The more present I am with myself, my feelings, thoughts, and my environment, the more aware I am of what’s me and what’s not me, as well as the more observant and receptive I am to all the inspiration around me and ideas messaging me constantly. Presence also creates more gratitude, peace, grace, and alignment.
  10. Surrounding myself with all that I love –  I find it crucial to infuse my life and surroundings with everything that brings me joy and moves my heart the most. This includes creating an inspiring and imaginative space and home, having plants, crystals, all things magickal, and nature close by and within sight of my desk, sharing a home with my partner and fur babies, and having my best bunny friend, Astrid by my side. When I see reflections of my heart all around me, it inspires me more, infuses my heart with greater peace and joy, and makes writing so much more fun and flowing.

Please let me know some of the things that you do to help with your writing, or your day in general, in terms of making it the best it can be.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Resistance Versus Alignment

It’s easy to get down on yourself if you aren’t producing at the rate you would like to be, or find other things in life “getting in the way” of your passions. This can go for any project or intent/goal/dream you may have, but for purposes of this post and today’s weekly series’ theme, let’s just focus on writing and I’ll share a bit about my own process and discoveries around delay and resistance versus trust and alignment.

There have been huge spurts of momentum when it comes to my book and then there have been large lulls where it seems nothing is happening – I’ve been in one of those for a while.

I’m one to keep check on myself, as I know how easy it can be to find excuses, self-sabotage, procrastinate, or even hide behind spiritual ideas as reasoning to not go about doing something.

I’ve been ingenious with it in the past, so I don’t let myself get away with it in the present.

So, when I check in with myself I ask myself how I feel about my book and writing.

When I think about it does it bring up joy or fear, do I feel resistance somewhere in my body, does it give me anxiety, or make me excited?

I will touch in now and then to stay on top of having clarity with my feelings, as that’s how I’ll know if I’m avoiding something or simply riding and flowing with the current energetic streams – something I would call “being in alignment.”

The key here is that you need to be honest with yourself.

And then I’ll look at the things going on in my life and how they are affecting me.

Do they feel to have their own flow and natural cycle? Or are they making me feel angry, resentful, or even compounding some of the emotions and feelings I’ve uncovered – in essence triggering me to pay attention to them?

If the latter is where you find yourself, then it may in fact be that there is some kind of resistance or avoidance going on, or that there are feelings you haven’t dealt with that if uncovered, acknowledged, and allowed them space, could help release the blocks and free up more space.

But not all things that come up in your life is about finding ways to run away from something.

It’s true that “to everything there is a season.”

Sometimes the work doesn’t happen on the visual and physical plane, but takes place in the background and percolates while your attention is drawn elsewhere to allow that natural process to take place.

Sometimes what you are writing needs to go through its own transformation – or you as a writer need to as well – and that might entail you moving through something in order to come at it from a different and more expansive perspective, or perhaps the collective is going through something that will make what you’re writing be more timely.

I have found this to be accurate for me during the process of writing my current book.

It isn’t happening overnight, but when it does happen, it happens very fast.

There have been different reasons for each lull spanning from at one time avoiding it (in came fracturing my foot to ensure I couldn’t), to needing to anchor in other things in my life to create harmony for the process, to needing to deepen into my creative process and expand my understanding, to needing time for research and letting go, to clarifying my purpose with the writing, to needing to step away from it in order to come at it with completely fresh heart, mind, and eyes, and to awaiting things to shift on a bigger picture level.

Sometimes there are things that can help your writing process that are beneficial to allow in, despite your ideas around what you think you should be doing instead.

For example, if I didn’t allow for the creative spurt of art and other artsy expressions right now to come through that have been a temporary focus, then I would be keeping myself away from experiencing greater inspiration, imaginative flow, and freshness with my writing. I would limit what could be more expansive when I return to it, not to mention, I’d be resisting the kind of joy it is bringing me and would miss out on that experience.

The same goes for getting out in nature. If I forced myself to stick only to writing, I’d lose the greater well-being and nurturing being outside can provide me that will support more excitement and energy with my writing. Plus, moving helps move energy on all levels and frees up blocks, just like creative expression can do.

If we remain stringent with the process, I believe we hinder our writing.

Life is about balance and writing is too.

It’s true that creative genius has come through what some might call “mad” writers and artists. Yet, that process doesn’t always bode well for the rest of their lives or even how long they live.

I believe it’s valuable to find your balance and to know yourself in the process.

So checking in with how you’re feeling and what’s really at the core of why you are doing or not doing something is key. Be curious as to how your process is helping or hindering.

Writing is definitely a journey and it’s a very honest, vulnerable, and transparent one. I believe the more honest you are with yourself, the more honest the story woven through your words will be.

So, now, when I find myself frustrated I’m not making headway, I have found that this is simply a conversation between me and myself to take up, as the resistance isn’t there, and alignment is showing itself to be in flow. This means I have a belief or idea around progress or achievement that I need to reconcile within myself and let go, relax, and surrender even more to the process and journey.

Do you go through similar experiences with your writing or passions?

What do you do if you find yourself resisting?

Remember to be gentle and loving around your curiosity, as the inner you will feel more comfortable revealing her or his truth, if she or he doesn’t feel threatened.

Let yourself know you have your back and only want to love yourself more into expressing the truth of who you are through your writing and passions.

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Soulful Sunday 107 – Play by Brad

To celebrate the first blog back from The Writer’s Corner since my time away in Sedona, I’d like Monday’s Musings to kick off with the musings around the theme of “Play” because it truly is the cornerstone to well-being, balance, optimal living, and cultivating more creativity – IMHO. This is a great post by my sweet friend, Brad, that includes a wonderful article for both your inner child and children in your life to understand the importance of play in your and their lives.

I’ve heard recently from several friends that they struggle with wanting to experience more creativity, have blocks in terms of their writing and other projects, aren’t sure where to start in terms of their ideas and dreams, or feel challenged with experiencing joy and optimism in their lives.

I truly believe that play is so important to life and if it weren’t for my Peter-Pan syndrome refusing to “grow” up in the way others have accepted this to mean, I likely would feel all the same things too. Yet, I embrace singing, laughing, dancing, make-believing, making up stories, seeing through childlike eyes of wonder, believing in the magickal, seeing the glass half full, talking to myself and all the creatures of Mother Earth and the Otherworlds, recreating myself and my environment to match my heart’s joy, and embracing being silly despite others around me acting all “grown up”.

If you struggle with writing or feeling a block with your creativity, check out number eight of the ten benefits of play in the article within Brad’s blog post.

If you allow yourself to spread your wings beyond the boundaries conditioning has created and embrace having more fun, playing, and being silly now and then, you will definitely feel a difference in your life and experience it through different eyes as well.

Your projects, dreams, and writing will get a boost of freshness, as you reset a new way of being that embraces all those wonderful core parts of who you really are, rather than making them feel like they need to behave and have a life-long time out in the corner – remember, nobody puts Baby in the corner!

I hope this article helps inspire you to play more and make 2019 more joyous for you. I really do believe you’ll find your projects and life flowing and thriving more.

Here’s an accompanying short blog inspiration I shared before, with some quotes to inspire more play – Play More.

writing to freedom

This episode of Soulful Sunday explores the power of play.

Play is so important to optimal child development that it has been recognized by the United Nations as a right of every child. ~ Kenneth Ginsburg

play, poetry, silly rhyme Enjoying some playtime with my nephew Willie.

Children learn (through play) critical life skills for mental, physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and communication development. A growing body of research (and my experience too) shows that play is equally important to adults. Play supports health, stress management, learning, and better relationships.

We get so caught up in our responsibilities that we forget to play, laugh, and enjoy life regardless of our circumstances. Play is defined as any activity done for pure enjoyment, rather than serious reasons or purpose. The danger in posts like mine is that we will add play to our growing To Do Lists! Then you face the paradox of wanting to play because…

Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Fragile is Like Breathing in a Bit of Stardust

Today’s Monday Musings from The Writer’s Corner is my own musing on the word “fragile” that I was presented with as part of a challenge by Linda of Litebeing. I’ve been quite immersed in family and end-of-year things, as well as new year start-ups, so I waited for the time to present itself for this, which feels like today.

The challenge is to write a post about Fragile and to include two quotes on the subject, then to nominate three other bloggers to blog about a word of my choosing. I shared with Linda that the word DID resonate very much with me and wasn’t surprised she had chosen me for this.

Being that I’m committed to my blog series these days and want to stay consistent with the themes, I won’t be taking on challenges unless they maintain synergy with my series. That being said, a musing felt appropriate as a writer to share for today’s theme and might be a reminder or inspiration for other writers, as well as anyone truly, about embracing each day and your dreams and goals now, rather than later.

I won’t be nominating anyone for a new challenge, as I don’t feel called to do that, but if you feel inspired to write about this word or any word that has meaning to you, I support you doing so and perhaps it might even kick in a creative flow if you’ve felt blocked in any way with your own writing and/or creating.

Now on to Fragile.

This is actually a word I think about often and feel as a strong underlying theme much of the time.

Interestingly, when I think about the word it brings to mind my rabbit loves because I see them as both resilient and fragile. They remind me of both how life is fragile and precious, yet resilient like them, and how vulnerability is strength.

Nature reflects this to us everyday as well.

“Some women feel the need to act like they’re never scared, needy or hurt; like they’re as hardened as a man. I think that’s dishonest. It’s okay to feel delicate sometimes. Real beauty is in the fragility of your petals. A rose that never wilts isn’t a rose at all.” ― Crystal Woods, Write Like No One Is Reading

It’s that contrast of strength in vulnerability and that beautiful divinity within all experiences of “highs” and “lows” that is inherent in all, regardless of how it seems.

Butterflies are another example of fragility, as their wings are so delicate and yet it is those very wings that carry them miles to migrate. For example Monarchs have flown 3000 miles from Canada to Mexico for millennia.

There is so much beauty and power in something that is fragile.

And yet it also calls up a reflection upon the fleeting moment there for us to be present to and embrace as fully as possible because it only happens once and a future is not promised – at least not necessarily within the same reality as the moment before it.

“People die all the time. Life is a lot more fragile than we think. So you should treat others in a way that leaves no regrets. Fairly, and if possible, sincerely. It’s too easy not to make the effort, then weep and wring your hands after the person dies.” ― Haruki Murakami, Dance, Dance, Dance

If you have a dream, a loved one, friends, people, animal companions, passions and things you care a lot about, you don’t have forever in this life to put them off or say that you’ll give them your time and love when this or that happens. Those things may never happen. These people, beings, and things you love may not be there anymore.

Life is fragile.

Life is precious.

Life is here for you to embrace now.

And when you do…when you surrender to the fragility of now and surrender your heart to the hands of spirit, you get to realize the powerful potential and beauty of that delicate moment.

It’s within fragile moments that artists create, writers write, musicians compose, babies are conceived and birthed, inspiration strikes, innovation emerges, nature breathes, the cosmos weaves…

The human body is an incredible masterpiece – both resilient and fragile.

So often I think about this and how it takes just one moment that can change your life.

I’ve had several fractures that happened in quick and odd ways. And while my body has healed fast, proving its resiliency, it also helps me to make choices in my life about presence and what I value enough to put myself in positions of potentials like this.

I don’t live in fear, but I do live with awareness and make choices that reflect my values, passions, and beliefs.

I do the same with my dreams.

I don’t have forever in this body and my dreams can’t wait. Nor can the collective be put on pause until we each decide to step up and out.

Life goes on.

Cycles come and go.

Things change.

For this reason I follow the nudge of my heart and encourage myself to do things I love and that I feel guided with inspiration to express because when we surrender to that moment, we breathe in a bit of stardust that has the ability to propel us in unimaginable ways.

Even if just to add wings to our hearts.

It also makes a huge difference for everyone around us.

Imagine what happens within the person you say “I love you,” “thank you,” “I forgive you,” or even “hello” to.

Imagine what happens to you as well.

I find music and sound to be powerful.  For me, maybe the most powerful in assisting shifts, connecting dots, igniting creative power, and drawing forth from a deeper well in my heart.

This leads me to share two songs with the title Fragile.

The first is a favorite of mine by Sting. One of my top favorites of his actually. I thought I would include the lyrics and then the song to follow. I will let you sit with the words and their meaning for yourself.

Fragile by Sting

If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the color of the evening sun
Tomorrow’s rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay

Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime’s argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could

For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star
Like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are
How fragile we are
How fragile we are
How fragile we are

The next is by Dustin O’Halloran and is purely instrumental. Another favorite of mine. Sometimes we don’t need words to feel the energy move through us and understand its message.

I think if you sit with this next song, you’ll be taken on a journey that moves you to the edge of fragility – where you feel the thin thread we walk between realities and worlds upon.

Fragile N.4 by Dustin O’Halloran

It takes but one fragile moment to change the course of everything.

A reminder for being as present as possible and realizing the power within a fragile instant where reaction and response, impetus and inertia, life and death dance.

Thank you Linda for the invitation to reflect upon this.

And just a note about next week, as Monday Musings takes a pause.

I will be away in the transformative energy of Sedona, AZ between Friday, January 11th and Monday, January 21st (which just so happens to be a Full Supermoon Lunar Eclipse), returning back to things on the 22nd. During this time I will not be blogging, except for maybe this Friday the 11th while I’m in transit – we’ll see if Astrid has a message for me for Ask Astrid Fridays upon leaving or if she wants to wait until I return for her next share.

That means I’ll skip one week of the ongoing series until I return and two weeks for Monday Musings, since I’ll be fully back on a Tuesday.

I’m sure that when I do return that it will be with new inspiration and another shift in motion, as being in Sedona always happens at key points when big change is in the air.

I hope the New Year is starting off well for everyone and that you find your own strength in embracing those fragile moments of inspiration.
