Monday Musings ~ The Writer’s Corner: Bedside Books

I haven’t shared anything new from The Writer’s Corner in a while, as I’ve had a lot of things on my plate and have been doing behind-the-scenes things with my book, but thought today we could do a short little share about what books we’re reading right now and have a special place by our bedside currently.

I read a lot of books in the previous months to help with my writing, then took a break again, but recently got back to reading while on vacation.

Prompted by seeing the new Watership Down BBC series at the end of the year, I knew I wanted to read the novel again, as I hadn’t since I was in 6th grade. So, I purchased a new copy on Amazon directly after watching the series – which I know I’ll be watching again.

It wasn’t until our time in Miami, and the travel to and from there, that I felt prompted to start reading it and continue to.

It sits by my bedside and is the last thing I read before heading off to dreamland.

I’m so happy I decided to read it again, as it’s such a wonderfully written novel and it feels to be activating a lot of things into alignment for me, including with my own novel that happens to also have anthropomorphic rabbits as the main characters.

I even was greeted by three GIANT jack rabbits upon landing back in Sacramento that were playing and hanging out in the open fields by our car that reminded me of Watership Down – Fiver’s dream home they come to find. Their black-tipped ears and scruffy, but wise demeanor reminded me of some of the characters – Bigwig and Blackberry to name a few. And literally they looked like they could have started talking, as they were so animated and human-like. It truly was such a magickal sighting and I knew I was in alignment with the course I’m currently on by being greeted back by them.

I was also given a book about teaching rabbits to learn things through a system of clicking. I’m not sure that it’s something I’ll use, as I have my own ways with Astrid, but there are some interesting insights with it that can be adapted in ways that resonate with me and may add to the bonded communication and partnership we share.

So, as you can see, currently I’ve shifted focus into rabbit books.

I shared that last summer I read my dear friend, Jean Brannon’s new novel, Atlantis Writhing. She currently has a different book, not the next in the series, coming out shortly that I’m looking forward to reading too that is about the lower leg Chakras.

What books are you reading or have recently enjoyed?

  1. So you’re going further down the rabbit hole! 🙂 Happy exploring.

  2. I recently had a reading with Laura Bruno, and am working through her Lyme workbook and also re-reading Judith Orloff’s “The Empath’s Survival Guide”, which seems apt for this month.
