You might recall my post “Do You Wear a Spiritual Disguise? – Losing the Mask and Finding Your Truth” which touched on not just how we “walk the walk” in our truth with others, but how honest we are with ourselves. It also shared a humorous take from Aalif Surti on the different masks many of us wear.
I find humor to be a great way to playfully take our power back with the realizations that are brought to light.
In the vein of this humorous approach, I found this article, shared with me, written by Mariana Caplan, Ph.D. on “10 Spiritually Transmitted Diseases” to also be playfully enlightening, while having the potential to hit to the core if embraced with that personal honesty and integrity. What do you think?

As Mariana starts off with:

These are just some of the “spiritually transmitted diseases” that are encountered on the path of spiritual evolution. We gain spiritual maturity through the uncovering of deeper layers for integration and gracefully embracing refinement of the knowledge we gain through growth.

World Turtle Day – May 23rd, 2014
Many of you may not know that today is the observance of World Turtle Day and I have to say that even I had not been aware of it until recently.
Like any calendar-marked day, these are just extra awareness reminders that each day of our lives, and the lives of all creatures great and small, would experience greater well-being and conscious presence if we were always being mindful of the things these days bring to mind.
World Turtle Day has been sponsored yearly since 2000 by American Tortoise Rescue to encourage you to discover the world of Turtles and Tortoises with greater consciousness. It helps brings attention and respect to these amazing ancient Earth dwellers so that we can learn how to support them to keep thriving and bring knowledge to encourage ways of protecting their survival, as well as their disappearing habitats around the world.
Turtles and Tortoises are the world’s oldest creatures and they are also some of the most endangered animals on this Earth.
Many may not give much thought about the less than fuzzy, graceful, and more commonly embraced animals. But reptiles, amphibians, insects, crustaceans, etc. are magnificent creatures and some of the oldest to ever set foot on this Earth. Turtles and Tortoises must be doing something right, as they have been on Earth for over 200 million years – long before the dinosaurs.

The oldest known fossil of a Turtle is 220 million years old, known as Odontochelys. It has a plastron (lower shell) but no carapace (upper shell), as well as teeth.
The next oldest known fossil Turtle, had beaks but no teeth and lived in water – likely salt water. Tortoises are land Turtles that evolved from an advanced Emydid fresh water Turtle (a relative of the Red-Eared Turtle).
All-Creatures.org shares some great information about World Turtle Day and how you can help save Turtles and Tortoises for the next generation at their link I just included.
Also at the link above, Susan Tellem a founder of ATR, American Tortoise Rescue, shares:
“…These gentle animals have been around for about 200 million years, yet they are rapidly disappearing as a result of the exotic food industry, habitat destruction, global warming and the cruel pet trade. We are seeing smaller turtles coming into the rescue meaning that older adults are disappearing from the wild thanks to the pet trade, and the breeding stock is drastically reduced. It is a very sad time for turtles and tortoises of the world.”
Tellem and her Co-Founder, Marshall Thompson, also bring to attention experts’ predictions of complete disappearance of Turtles and Tortoises within the next 50 years. Some of the things that they recommend adults and children can do to help are:
- Never buy a turtle or tortoise from a pet shop as it increases demand from the wild.
- Never remove turtles or tortoises from the wild unless they are sick or injured.
- If a tortoise is crossing a busy street, pick it up and send it in the same direction it was going – if you try to make it go back, it will turn right around again.
- Write letters to legislators asking them to keep sensitive habitat preserved or closed to off road vehicles, and to prevent off shore drilling that can lead to more endangered sea turtle deaths.
- Report cruelty or illegal sales of turtles and tortoises to your local animal control shelter.
- Report the sale of any turtle or tortoise of any kind less than four inches. This is illegal throughout the U.S.
Since 1990, ATR has placed about 3,000 Tortoises and Turtles in caring homes. They also assist law enforcement when undersize or endangered Turtles are confiscated and provide helpful information and referrals to people with sick, neglected or abandoned turtles.
Many of you know that I have a beautiful, gentle, and most magickal Russian Tortoise named Gaia. People may not be aware that my family used to have a Desert Tortoise, named Tee-Ta, and a Box Turtle, named Herman, for years when we were growing up. The two of them were fully outdoor Turtles/Tortoises. The Box Turtle not very social, but the Desert Tortoise Tee-Ta was amazingly social. She would come knock her shell on the sliding glass door to tell us she was hungry every day. She loved me feeding her by hand and was gentle not to nip my fingers. She listened and loved being caressed on her head and neck. When we moved Herman went to a friend who had many other Turtle friends for him to play with and Tee-Ta came with us to Sedona, where she still is.
Then Gaia came into my life in 2008 and I discovered yet another side to these amazing creatures.
From the moment Gaia came home she loved being on my lap when I worked and would snuggle into my clothes. She loved coming by my feet, helping with my painting, looking out the window at Lake Tahoe, spending time curled up with electrical cords and by my computers, as she worked with Binary codes and enjoyed the vibrations that were like her way of communicating, loved all crystals and would climb inside my giant Amethyst, and constantly listened to me when I talked, stopping and cocking her head with her soulful eyes. She came into my dreams before I got her, and she has come into my dreams with messages many times after. She has also traveled to many places with me and been part of a lot of energetic work. She was an indoor Tortoise for almost all the time I’ve had her, until recently.
And if you’ve been following along, she had a magickal hibernation for the first time this year, but is also M.I.A. again now for the last month.
What I came to learn by having a Tortoise companion is how endearing, intelligent, and tender they are in ways people likely don’t think. Most people go for the cuddly companions and yet there are many homeless, abandoned, abused, and neglected creatures that would make wonderful friends, if you chose to take the time and presence to honor, listen to, and get to know them.
Something we could likely receive benefit from doing to everyone and all creatures we meet that are different than us or our pre-conceived ideas.
Today and all days I celebrate these ancient wonders of the Earth.

A Thank You to All of My Sacred Tattoo Design Clients
(A visual journey of some of the sacred tattoo designs I’ve had the privilege of co-creating)
Many of you know that one of my specialties I love, heart and soul, to be of service to is the creation of sacred tattoo designs. It’s something I was guided to start channeling 5 years ago for others and has been a beautiful, empowering, and expansive journey since.
That journey, along with my own since 1998 when I got my very first tattoo, led also to writing my book, “Spiritual Skin – Sacred Tattoos: More Than Skin Deep“.
And it’s been quite an unfolding story since. One that is rich and deep and has brought me in connection with some stunning souls across the globe that I have the honor to support and co-create with intimately, but also have become dear friends with in the process. What a blessed experience in more ways than can be shared.
I just briefly wanted to extend gratitude for this opportunity I have to do what I love and to support others through visionary and sacred portals to be more of who they know themselves to be at heart – the way I ONLY see them – whole.
As shared, I’ve had a waiting list on sacred tattoo designs since late last year and this continues. I am moving through the energy in flow and I know many of who have been thinking about embarking on the design process with me, asking about designs, timing, etc.
I can’t provide an exact on when I may be able to start on a new commissioned piece, as it is a journey I do not rush or force and coincides with my and the person’s flow, not to mention the collective energy field. Plus, these designs are not the only thing I do, although one important facet indeed.

I just had two of my clients that I had arrived at their time to start creating with, ask to delay their creating time with me for a while, so things are always shifting. I’m also enjoying seeing a much more balanced flow of female AND male clients again, which is really great. I’m seeing many people creating cover-ups or enhancements to older tattoos to change up the energy to mirror things more in alignment with the now of who they are.
It’s also fun to watch the theme of design energy that also comes through, as I often find it so connected to collective energies and portals we’re activating, as well as my own personal journey.
I LOVE the synergy we share and I LOVE the diversity I have the ability to experience and honor in the process.
Thank you to all of you for bringing the vulnerability you do to this process in such courageous ways. I honor each of you incredibly.
And thank you for your patience, as I work through each design lovingly and with all of me. I do believe Divine alignment is always at work when we embrace that flow.
I am grateful to each of you for being such beautiful mirrors and channels for the creations I am able to produce as a result, as well as for challenging me to draw forth more from myself to meet you in reciprocity.

My Life is My Mission
This quote goes along with why I have no concept of such things as retirement.
What I do is an extension of the breath of life for me – an etheric mission, so to speak, that is the expression of this part of Source that I AM.
I don’t see that ending until I do take my last breath…then it simply transforms from Earth experience to Multi-Dimensional eternity.
I feel that when we connect to the core of our very beingness, life BECOMES – BEGINS TO BE.

The love in my heart is building every day. Oh yes! It DOES continually grow, deepen, and expand. That’s my truth, not some imagined experience or one shared to sound the way I think I’m supposed to sound.
I was just in conversation with a dear friend that had me doing a quick life/soul reflection on everything and the beauty of all challenges I’ve experienced. They didn’t seem so nice at the time, but I’ve come now to welcome each challenge because I know the value that is latent within it. It doesn’t mean there aren’t the ups and downs, but they don’t last, they aren’t as debilitating, and they move through quite quickly, sometimes instantly because I am more familiar with my center and personal frequency.
As I prepare for our upcoming retreat in July, tuning in to the energy and the experience I will be sharing and helping to facilitate with you, I am feeling the joy-full expansion of the space and energy we will be sharing, which is building depth to that well in the core of my heart. I see the potentials and possibilities and I embody the commitment I have to that process no matter the places within myself I must dig and reveal, no matter the fear and vulnerability that may show up, because it’s all I know to do.
We are now just 2 months away, as of yesterday, to embarking on our July experience in Bimini together. And not knowing what the future holds in terms of The ARC, nor where my soul will be called, I am planning a special time together, that I’m listening to guidance on to share, that will move us through various experiences leading us to know ourselves at a new level and have simple tools to move through life more authentically. It truly isn’t the complex stuff that we need to know or learn. Simplicity and vulnerable integrity will do us well. The only challenge may be in embracing your unique self expression. The courage to give voice to it. And the willingness to show up as you chose to upon entering the Earth realm.
Come ready with open heart and readiness. 🙂 If you’re feeling called to join, it’s going to be an expansively experiential time together.
And what a magnificent time of year to be in Bimini! July is an incredible time to visit with extended sunshine filled days (with 10 hours a day of sunshine and 14 hours of daylight daily) and warm waters up to the mid 80’s swarming with activity and extra dolphin playfulness. Calm clear days almost all month long, with only the potential of occasional quick-bursts of afternoon thunderstorms – perfect for cooling and stirring things up. 😉

Accelerated Reiki Levels 1 – 3 Workshops in Costa Mesa, CA
Originally, I was planning to be out of town the weekend of June 6th – 8th at a special event my dear friends up North in Canada are hosting – Anandafest on June 7th – where I would have had the opportunity to be speaking/teaching, but plans unfortunately shifted, as they do, requiring me to be stationed at home and unable to travel then.
However, if you are up in the Burlington, ON area of Canada don’t miss out on this wonderful event which includes yoga, live music, kirtan, meditation, inspirational talks, and more on a beautiful 70-acre property. It’s only a minimum donation of $20 to attend this full day event. This is the 3rd year of Anandafest.
I hope I can make it out next time.
So, as luck would have it, I am available to teach that weekend for those of you who had been interested and weren’t able to attend the last round of workshops.

If you’re a student who has already taken a workshop with me, you are welcome to join free for review, practice, to co-teach, or as a refresher, provided there is room.

Friday June 6th Reiki Level 1 & 2:

You’ll also learn scanning, Reiki lineage, hand positions for giving in-person, hands-on treatments to others and yourself, learn to support any intention, person, animal or global cause from a distance, through space and time, as you learn three Reiki Symbols to deepen your work and use of Reiki. Empower the future, embrace the present, support mental and emotional balance, create deeper awareness of your inner voice, and always so much more.
If you are interested in deepening your practice of Reiki, a Reiki Level 3 Master Teacher Workshop will continue on Saturday June 7th:
You will learn 3 Reiki Master Symbols including Tibetan, Anthakarana and Usui Master Symbols, Violet Breath, Hui Yin exercise, healing attunement instruction, receive another initiation attunement, learn advanced techniques, instruction on how to give attunements for all levels, as well as learn what it means to be a teacher, while helping to nurture more confidence, commitment and responsibility to your service. We will review Reiki Levels 1 and 2 for anyone interested in going over questions from previous training.
I often support Reiki students of other teachers that feel drawn to complete their Reiki training with me, or that would like to deepen their practice, refresh, and expand. So any practitioners ready to move forward to their Reiki Master Teacher Level are welcome.
Use Your Creative Energy Wisely
Have you been spending your time defending and explaining your beliefs – trying to get others to understand you or maybe change?

Right now, and every moment and day, ask yourself how you might more efficiently focus and make use of your energy.

We Need to Feel – Integration is Key to Opening You Up to You

When we become more conscious of how reflections of our emotional charges are mirrored, and how we project behaviors through our reactions of such, we can then begin to feel without attachment and conditions, supporting integration to take place.
It’s an important part of integration to start making our feelings friends, rather than enemies, so that we can get better at feeling and embracing the full spectrum of these feelings, not just the feel-good ones.
Allow the answers to come from within, as they ARE there. It’s just that we don’t engage the wisdom we embody.
This is not a mental process, nor is it a physical one – alone. Although these will support the emotional journey that is crucial to take. Many teachings leave out excavation into the depths of our emotional abyss and I believe it is here that we will find the missing ingredient.
Find a way to explore the Cosmos within yourself – engage your imagination if this is a challenge, as it can provide access into another reality beyond the one you may think is the only there is. This may be helpful especially if you have suppressed and hidden things from yourself. It is also a way to draw forth your inner child that may be hiding away in fear. Then you will discover an inner world of treasures eager to share their story with you through the explorative curiosity you engage. And creative new perspectives will arise from the child within that has longed for your acknowledgment. This child is much wiser than has been deemed and her/his message of simplicity will empower the integration at life-changing proportions.
In that quiet space of listening and presence we access invaluable and lasting pearls of wisdom, rather than the quick-fixes that are sought by today’s society, which has created the mental only-focused affirmational approach and one-focused positive outlook.
Experientially involving and engaging ALL of us is where integration takes place.
We need to feel in order to integrate and if that means that we will experience periods of mental confusion in the process of going into our emotions, then this is of benefit to us. It is bringing us into a more authentic experience of truly feeling – perhaps for the first time in a long time for many of you. This can feel not so good either, especially if you don’t have your mind running the show with some illusionary sense of control.
But guess what? Your feelings have been running the show all along, which is why you are experiencing the reflections and projections that seemingly jump out and trigger you from nowhere.
They were there all along being muffled by your mental chatter and avoidance.
The key is to unconditionally embrace the full gamut of who you are to the depths of your emotional body. Resisting is perpetuation of what you don’t want and not fully putting you in REAL control and empowerment. Embracing without conditions is what begins the process of integration.
This isn’t “healing”, as healing refers to something that is broken or that there is some ultimate end result to arrive at. It’s not that something needs “fixing”, it simply hasn’t been integrated into a more full and authentic experience of you yet.
Your charged emotions simply need to be put to use in the way they were created to be. There are unlimited and unrealized potentials within these emotions that have the ability to act as keys to open you up. Integration will empower authentic flow that is able to utilize the emotions and locked up childhood imprints as energy generators for creating lasting shifts.
