Father’s Day & Summer Solstice Gratitude

I thought I’d share a few poems in celebration and honor of Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice today that spoke to me.

Perhaps they will bring a moment of reflection, as you pause in gratitude for what they symbolize in your own life.

This first poem isn’t about a father, directly, but embodies what fathers and father figures do in life. The “old man going a lone highway” builds his bridge, which is what “dads” do for their kids – they are bridge builders.

THE BRIDGE BUILDER by Will Allen Dromgoole

An old man going a lone highway,

Came, at the evening cold and gray,

To a chasm vast and deep and wide.

Through which was flowing a sullen tide

The old man crossed in the twilight dim,

The sullen stream had no fear for him;

But he turned when safe on the other side

And built a bridge to span the tide.

IN OBSERVATION OF SUMMER SOLSTICE by Christina Countryman

In recognition of the blessing of being alive on this beautiful planet

With great gratitude I honor the four directions

To the east and all that lay in that direction…

May the air and oceans enfold you in glorious beauty

And all creatures thrive upon your shores in health and harmony

Blessed be

To the south and all that lay in that direction…

May your mountains and rivers wash clean water to the sea

And your lakes and forests shelter all who dwell there

Blessed be

To the west and all that lay in that direction…

May the big sky of your plains sparkle with crystal clarity

And gift all life with healing rains and glorious sunshine

Blessed be

To the north and all that lay in that direction…

May your midnight sun shine upon a planet filled with hope

And the possibility of a peaceful world be made real

Blessed be

From MAYA: POEMS FOR THE SUMMER SOLSTICE by Gillian Harding-Russell

Blossoms blowing through the solstice –

Come April’s cool rays, tender of apple blossoms
pink-kissed white gives way to tang of May’s
honeysuckle withering off-whitish yellow

vegetal nubs on a branch and to intensity
of June’s lilacs, joy a poignant pain on the brain as she walks
through glass doors under fairy arc of sprinklers

into wet-cut grass aroma of a summer day
as if she were passing into the pixel perfect of a movie
paint box blue and green, another country

(far from memory of winter’s white shadow of trees
bristling with hoar) when at her foot she notices
a dandelion turned from sunny coquette to old lady

white-haired fluff, and thinks she might have glimpsed
a midsummer god-light grinding gears on some invisible
wheel towards the shortest day…

Last Sacred Tattoo Design Bookings Available for August Before I Take 3 Months Off

spiritual-skin-coverAre you going through major life transitions and feeling drawn to creating a meaningful image to embody this new energy to wear as energetic support and a window into your soul to emanate forth? Something that will help empower the new, while also supporting you to step into it?

The clients I’ve been working with recently have been really going through huge transformations in their lives and so the work has increased in the amount of energy and processing time needed for these sacred tattoo designs they desire co-creating as markers in their lives.

I have needed more time with each, including time in between and to recharge, since I get fully involved in each and literally am walking with each person energetically and all that they are going through emotionally, in order to create and channel the most mirroring design.

I am grateful for everyone’s patience and flow with the process, which makes all the difference. And each person is seeing how divinely aligned that always is when we embrace it, rather than control it.

~

This is just a quick reminder on sacred tattoo designs….I’ll be taking 3 months off and not available for anything during that time. You can still book for August, otherwise you can make a deposit and get on the waiting list for when I return in December.

What does this mean?

I’m booked through end of July, but if you’d like to get a sacred tattoo design done before I take my 3 month sabbatical, you can still schedule one for August and to be completed by end of August.

Although I’ll be back to designs after my sabbatical and bookings can be made direct through the link on my site here: http://spiritualskin.com/lifechangingtattoos.html to get on the calendar and waiting list for when I return, if you really feel you want a design co-created with me that you’ll be wanting to get inked before the end of the year, then you’ll want to schedule something for August, as I will be taking three months off of all services offered.

This is alsothe same link where you can currently book a consultation with me by placing a deposit and scheduling for August. I’ll get in touch with you on the timing when I receive your deposit.

But if you want to wait, just know that I will not be back to creating until December of this year. If by any chance things shift and I need to extend my sabbatical to the beginning of 2016, I’d contact you to let you know.

Just be aware that once August fills, I will automatically be scheduling out for December and January, to accommodate my personal time off.

If you have questions, now is the time to ask me, as once I go on sabbatical starting September 1st, I will not be available to discuss things. You can contact me here: Contact Tania Marie

Thank you so much to my Pisces brother, filmmaker Mitch Mattraw for making this important film and to Laura Bruno for sharing it. It’s only about a 10 minute film that I encourage you to watch. If this doesn’t move you to take action to protect our Earth Mother, I’m not sure what would. Whether you find your voice in energetically supporting or taking steps, Nature thanks you. You’ll find links with more information and where you can make an impact through petitions and ways to help.

Garden Tower Update ~ Joyous Abundance Flourishes!

Sun Gold Heirloom Tomatoes

I thought I’d share some photo updates of what’s happening with the Garden Tower and in the garden in general. Since I know nothing about gardening, this is my way of sharing how possible IT IS for ANYONE to grow their own food and create their own sacred garden sanctuary in whatever small space you may have to work with. Even if that means simply a small window area or balcony.

I love waking up each morning to go see what magick has taken place with my plant friends. Everyday is a new surprise, including finding that I’m not the only one who cherishes the strawberries when they are ripe for the picking, as it appears either our raccoon or opossum friend also eagerly awaits just when the strawberries are ready to share in the bounty. That’s okay, as we’ve created the garden to share with not only us and the bunny loves, but to welcome in more of our critter friends and create a space we offer in harmony to all – including, of course, the Faeries.

John Kitsteiner ~ Throw Your Hat Over the Fence

This is such a great share about daring yourself into the new and your dreams.

The challenge, if you dare to take it:

“So if you have something that you know you should do, something you feel you should attempt, and you feel it down to your marrow, down to your soul, but you have not done it yet because you are waiting, waiting for things to fall in place, waiting for the stars to align before you move forward, then I challenge you to commit to it. I challenge you to take a step that makes it impossible for you not to try. I challenge you to throw your hat over the fence.”

Thank you for sharing it Laura. Like you this has been one of my own magickal go-to’s I’ve used to create my life as it is.

Renewal, Fortitude & Inner Beauty ~ Peahen Messages of the Feather

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yesterday timing aligned for a photo shoot on the New Moon, which I felt was really symbolic to be doing in the support of that energy.

For part of the photo shoot we were on location at an amazing park I’d never been to in the area, which was huge with all kinds of meandering grass and trees, trails for walking, biking, and horse back riding, and then surrounded in the back by forested areas that were truly magickal in the hills.

One of the very cool things about the park is that there are wild peacocks and peahens roaming the grounds.

I was with one of my very favorite couples, as he’s a photographer and she assists with many of his shoots.

On our way to the area we were going to be shooting in, we saw a couple of peacocks in the park and just as we’d crossed over the dry stone river bed to the forested area, a peahen appeared amidst the trees.

We’d just got finished saying how cool it would be if one showed up for the shoot, but although she did not end up as part of our photos that day, seeing her felt very symbolic. The couple had been to this spot several times before on location and said they’d never seen any of the peafowl in the forested area there. So I loved how she showed up to infuse a little magick into the experience.

And throughout our time there, moving from one enchanted area to another, we were serenaded with the eerie calls of the peafowl and unusual bird songs that we’d never heard before. Between the approaching sunset hour, the bit of humidity that seemed to set in, a lovely stillness in the warm evening air, the magickal Faery land all around us, and these unique bird calls that made it sound like we were in a jungle or Garden of Eden, it truly added to the feeling of our work there.

Not to mention, I happened to be wearing the bright male peacock colors and a skirt that somewhat mirrored their feathers, although I had no idea peafowl would be here.

And upon our last location with the sun setting behind, I discovered an area that was full of plumage from one of the female peahens. There were tons of soft smaller fluffy feathers of her undercoat, medium, and larger ones, all in a circular area that made it very auspicious and almost like a sacred site the way they were laying there almost intentionally.

So after we finished, catching the last of the sunset, I walked over to the feather site, as I felt it calling to me.

I’ve come to honor feathers over my life when they make themselves appear to me, are in my path, fall in front of me, etc. This mirrors Native American Indian ways, as feathers mean a lot to them. They know that a feather means much more than simply something that falls out of a bird. There is the message of trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, freedom, etc. that is thought to be carried in the symbolism of the feathers and so to be “given” one is to be hand picked from the tribe to receive what they feel is like getting a gift from a high official.

And so once one is received it must be cared for, respected, and honored.

For this reason I have done so with the special feathers I’ve been gifted and I felt I was to do the same with this peahen’s feathers. So I gathered up the just the large ones I found and brought them home to work with me and my altar space, healing and creative work, and shamanic rituals.

I counted 7 in all that I took with me, which I counted several times before I got home. But when I arrived home and took them from my satchel, at first there were the 7, but when I looked through everything to make sure I got all out that I had transported with me for the shoot, there was now an 8th feather that appeared!

So I have now 8 beautiful peahen feathers.

peahen feathersOne might not have cherished these as much as I did, preferring or valuing the peacock feathers more. But I felt the beautiful reflection and honor, and began to see the symbolism in the connection with this peahen. Having seen one right when we arrived and then finding the feathers where we ended, felt important and spoke to my personal journey of renewal currently.

For those of you not aware, the males are the ones we call peacocks, which have the extravagant feathers. The females are the ones we call peahens and they are brown, and sometimes grey. The babies/offspring are called peachicks. And they all belong to the family of peafowl.

In general peacocks and peahens bring messages of the beauty (within and without) that we can achieve when we show our true colors, wholeness, immortality, renewal/resurrection – rising from the ashes (as the closest description to the mythical Phoenix), vision into the past, present, and future, self-confidence, self-respect, self-love, integrity, benevolence, compassion, patience, wisdom, and fortune…to name a few.

They naturally replace their feathers annually, which is why they are connected with renewal energy. They can help us shed the old feathers of the past and take back the true beauty and authenticity of our individuality, as we stand in our personal empowerment.

We’re reminded of our hidden beauty and innate gifts that are waiting to come forth and that our imperfections make us uniquely beautiful. Although the peahen is not as visually beautiful as the peacock, we are asked to go within to see her true beauty and value, which reflects to us how we need to love ourselves in this same way, as well as others – always treating everyone with respect and “seeing” their inner beauty and wholeness – look within to see the true beauty of life and the world at large.

We’re encouraged to step into our wisdom, dignity, integrity, and honor, rather than pride and arrogance. Peacock/peahen helps us reclaim our powers and reinvigorate self-esteem through the nurturing of self-love. They are definitely a mirror to the soul and help us to remove masks so that we can reveal, and be, our authentic selves.

They support us in more fearlessly being ourselves and expressing that through our unique colors, song, or dance of life. And as we do so, we raise our vibration, which will inspire others to do so too. So it’s all about shining our brightest and leading by example.

What might one take away from that? Not to hold back and to just let your creative heart have at it and choose to act upon your inner wisdom.

They have the ability to eat poisonous snakes and plants without harm as well, which speaks to their ability to thrive in the face of danger and/or suffering. It also reflects their protective symbolism.

They are compared to the great bodhisattvas in Buddhism, for their ability to consume poisonous things without being affected, just as a bodhisattva is able to take in the toxins of human evolution, yet still attain enlightenment.

Might this reflect our ability to embrace and integrate our shadow aspects. That truly there is nothing to fear in going into those dark journeys, as you will find your way through courageous self-reflection.

Peacock feathers are thought to have protective powers and are used in shamanic rituals for healing, to cleanse the aura, and remove energetic pollution.

When I saw the feathers all in one place, I felt the symbolism instantly of the shedding old layers, renewal, and even a literal resurrection from the ashes.

It was very powerful and remains with me still. And for it to take place on the New Moon, connected to what we were doing symbolically there, felt particularly potent.

I am so grateful for the gift of these 8 large, amazing peahen feathers that will be a part of my new journey I’m embarking upon.

Eight is very connected to things for me and holds a powerful energy all of its own.

I love that it was the female that made her presence and message known, as I think many take the female peafowl for granted and yet without them there would be no peacock.

So many wonderful gifts she shares. Her beauty I do see and thank her for the reflection.

Astrology for the Soul June 17, 2015 ~ Tom Lescher/Kaypacha

This report from Tom/Kaypacha is super resonating for me…speaking directly to things I’m experiencing. Thank you Dawn for sharing it. Hope you enjoy and find your own resonance.

The mantra for this one is:

I can complain and criticize,
Finding fault with you and I,
But I would rather spend my time,
Learning how to fly.

Tom also added a note in the comments below his video post to add some more he had forgotten to speak about in the video. Here it is below, which also is very aligned with my own experience, as I have been investing in myself this past week and upcoming:

Oh yeah, you know what I’m talkin’ about! One thing I forgot about in this report is $! This is a particularly lucky week and if there ever was a time to go for it NOW is the time. That may include that in order to make some money you need to spend some money! This is not to say you should foolishly throw your money away, but with consciousness, invest in yourself and your creations with the intention that their full value will be recognized by others and your energy returned.

Empathic Resonance ~ Gemini New Moon 2015 by Adam Sommer

Astrologer, Adam Sommer, shares his take on today’s Gemini New Moon, which I feel you’ll find resonating and supportive.

In his reflective synopsis he shares:

“This Moon falls in the last decan of Gemini (20-30 degrees).  It is in this space where we experience the most extreme forms of polarity. According to the Egyptians, it marked the end of their calendar year. This has to do with the Summer Solstice.  When the Sun leaves Gemini, it enters Cancer, which also is both the highest the Sun will get in the year and the beginning of its descent.  The Lord of Light begins to sink, shrink, and wane.  And so we get images Cain slaying Abel, fallen men on the battlefield, Castor, the mortal twin being struck down, and a wise man laughing as the blade separates head from body.  It is symbolic of the extremes of mortality and immortality or how to work with the tension of our monkey mind and christ consciousness.  It’s a territory where the only discoveries will be found within, and will relate to striking a balance between the mind and heart.”

This seems to mirror my last post I shared about the interesting feeling of experiencing polarities of aversion and affinity at the same time to things – all pointing to getting at the heart of the matter where integrative balance and harmony can be created in that union.

Adam also shares this, which resonates with my own experience:

“In a general sense, I feel this Gemini New Moon will bring up issues like I mentioned above, but also plant a few seeds of wonder relating to what it would be like to step out of the electrical storm, and feel what it’s like to be outside of the cloud. Town and city vs. mountain and stream.  It is going to challenge us to unplug a bit, to bring our minds down a few decibels, allowing for the capacity of warm limbic resonance, open ears, and tearful empathy for what is actually happening around us. We will come face to face with our “evil” twin and learn to satiate them with love and compassion.”

Merry-Go-Rounds & Free Agents

rabbit merry go round

So many things are and have been coming to closure for me in natural ways. Some of that has been very interesting to experience the feelings around. Perhaps some of you may also relate with this.

For instance, it’s been a very interesting paradox to have both an aversion and affinity to something simultaneously…which basically is this synchronized experience of duality and Yin/Yang that has merged into just being without justification needed.

I find that this speaks to a soul journey that has not only come full circle, but has ridden up and down the pole of the circling experience enough times to actualize and embody true realization of this, and realizes where that affinity stems from, but also recognizes and embraces a putting-to-rest is now in order, to be able to birth forth something new from this union.

Once the journey has come round enough times to click into full activated conscious and living awareness, it is ready to spiral forth into new realms.

It feels like a merry-go-round and interestingly I’ve been fascinated with this one merry-go-round at a local outdoor mall here where we go for vegan sushi sometimes. I love it because it has all kinds of animals on it, but in particular one special, magick bunny that I am drawn to of course.

It feels like this bunny is alive and speaks to me each time I see it….waking me to a deeper sense of myself and a new journey awaiting.

The merry-go-round brings up different layers of thought and symbolism that are also on a different spectrum of the scale.

It brings me back to the child within and engages my imaginary spark. And that’s no wonder, as they do in fact symbolize more simple fun and childish joy, which are messages to us to bring these experiences more into our lives on a daily basis and throughout everything we do.

It also reminds me about how fascinated we can be with the same ol’ thing when stimulated by a lot of sparkly things, have the illusion of actually having things change because of the “spin” we are on, and yet don’t realize that we might not actually be changing our life so much, and in fact are reliving the same stuff, different story and clothing, as we always have or have for a very long time. Spinning around can be almost like a “drug” or a euphoric-producing experience that keeps us “medicated” and numb or distracted to what’s before us and perhaps even unable to see the forest for the trees.

rabbit3Perhaps the merry-go-round is providing us a window of opportunity to help shift our perspectives, rather than have our perspectives jumbled into illusion, until we realize we can get on a different ride now that we know all the ups and downs, ins and outs of this one particular one that although journeys all around, remains on the same axis.

All About Heaven shares this about merry-go-round symbolism:

“A wonderfully complex symbolic object.  The carousel in the fairground, occasionally known as a merry-go-round, first of all captures the symbolism of the means of transport [the means of ecstatic flight]. Horses feature prominently on the ride, but there are often other animals and birds – crows, geese, swans and so on.

The ride goes round and round in concentric circles. Moving rings and spheres – with a centrally lit pillar, – celestial pole –  usually beautifully lit, which is symbolic of the power from which the wheel of life is driven – God and the Intelligences.  Thus we have the symbolism of the Egg and Levels and Layers built into the ride.

Added to this is the pole which each animal has – also a celestial pole, which makes it go up and down – ascension and descent.”

Anyway, there is simply a lot of realizations that I’m not just feeling, which are becoming actualized in experience, thrown in with the occasional blaring messages.

Like this past Saturday at the last performance of the symphony’s season this year. This year has been the 25th-year celebration of the Pacific Symphony’s Music Director and at the show he and the head of the Board of Director’s were giving a talk in which it was shared that the actual day of celebration when both came to the Pacific Symphony was February 26th, 1990.

How synchronous is that, that 2/26 is my birthday and I was just finishing out my senior year in ’90/91 of high school before heading out to explore life.

Being that we’ve had season tickets this year to the symphony’s celebration and here I am having a major transformation and renewal since my birthday this year on 2/26 while in Iceland and beginning a 9-year, and they announce this date that speaks directly to me (of all days they could have mentioned)…I did in fact feel another message of closure, full circle, and something new birthing that was being reiterated to me in a very BIG way.

Not to mention I keep seeing the number 226 a lot, again, and 2:26 on the clock, which also seems to be telling of a rebirthing taking place in my life since it indicates my birthday, and also brings to mind this symbolism of a reset button being hit that keeps coming to me as my now experience.

Plus, I really love this particular music director/conductor….I LOVE his passion, his exuberant joy, his expressiveness, the way he loves from his heart what he does and helps to inspire others with the same kind of passion, and how he truly LOVES, appreciates, and encourages everyone he works with. You can feel it in every bone of his body that he IS the music.

And it’s that kind of passionate living…the fragrant romance of flesh meets etheric in an enraptured dance that calls to my soul in a new way that has yet to be experienced. The kind that is birthed purely from a personal creative spark of passion and is born of the very air you need to breathe.

The question that used to be and that I hear a lot of from everyone in search of what’s next is, “How can I be of service?” A question that searched for something outside of ourselves to which we then have tried to mold our gifts into fitting.

And now the new questions to ask may be more like:

“What breathes life into me?”

“What do I love above all else and makes the Earth move within me when I am engaged in channeling it?”

“What can I not live without being/doing?

“What is the thing that brings me the greatest joy when I’m engaged in it?”

“What has been longing to birth forth from within me as the expression of my passionate romance with life and the reason for my very being here?”

Notice the focus is on what YOU want, rather than what is wanted of/from you. This is not selfish and ultimately when you connect with what truly moves you it is simultaneously your collective service, as you are giving forth from your wholeness and joy and is the very essence of who you are and what you came forth to share with the world.

So when you answer these questions from your heart and begin to support that thing/or things into embodiment and expression, you will naturally be of service and not “trying” to be some idea of service that fits an accepted definition, what you see others doing, or even is repeating patterns you’ve been doing over and over from past lives like clock-work without awareness or thoughtful choice.

It’s time to awaken to who you are NOW, taking into account all of where you’ve been, but realizing you are free to choose and create something new. After all, you are an infinitely creative being, so I guarantee you there isn’t just one or even 10 ways you can do things.

Find YOUR way, that moves you most and you will see how much the collective has been awaiting your gifts as they respond to your channeled joy both in embrace and in mirror of their own wholeness and authenticity they will feel more ready to move into.

rabbit2So, like the rabbit on the merry-go-round I see that doesn’t feel like she belongs there because she has a different aliveness and spark in her eyes than the rest of the animals on the merry-go-round, I am taking her message, integrating her realization, and getting off the repetitive, spinning pattern of experience. I do not want to feel like I’m alive inside a body that is immobile, set on a course that has no freshness and is one that directs me even if just subtly from ages of appeasing repetition.

Just because someone does something that appears to be, by some definition, creatively different, of service, and done successfully….doesn’t mean they aren’t potentially on their own merry-go-round.

This is the precipice of where I stand, as I jump off into a new cycle in my own life…getting off the merry-go-round and becoming my own cosmic free-agent who’s ready for a very different ride of my life.

How about you?

Becoming Authentic ~ Loving Your Trueness

the_velveteen_rabbit_by_coffinberry

the velveteen rabbit by coffinberry

Once you are Real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always. ~Margery Williams

I’ve had the Velveteen Rabbit on my mind a lot recently (I recently even purchased a copy of the book both for myself, and as a birthday gift for our 3-year old niece along with a stuffed velveteen rabbit of her own) and so I was inspired to post this excerpt from “Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy” by Sarah Ban Breathnach and “The Velveteen Rabbit” by Margery Williams. I posted something similar a few years ago, but it just simply doesn’t get old in my book.

“On Christmas morning the bunny sitting in the top of the Boy’s stocking with a sprig of holly between his paws looked quite splendid. He was fat and bunchy in all the right places, with a soft, spotted white-and-brown coat, thread whiskers, and ears lined in pink sateen. The Boy was enchanted and played with the rabbit for two whole hours until family directed his attention to all the other wonderful parcels lying under the tree “and in the excitement of looking at all the new presents the Velveteen Rabbit was forgotten.”

For a long time, the bunny remained just another plaything in the nursery. But he didn’t mind because he was able to carry on long, philosophical discussions with the old Skin Horse who was very old, wise, and experienced in the strange ways of nursery magic. One of the rabbit’s favorite topics of conversation was on becoming “Real.” Here is the heart of Margery Williams’s mystical tale of the transformative power of love, The Velveteen Rabbit, written in 1927.

The Skin Horse patiently explained to the bunny that “Real isn’t how you are made. It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”

Becoming Real doesn’t happen overnight to toys or people. “Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real, you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

In order for toys to become Real, they must be loved by a child. In order for us to become Real, we must become lovers of real life in all its complexity and uncertainty. Like the Velveteen Rabbit, we long to become Real, to know what authenticity feels like. Sometimes this hurts. The thought of losing our whiskers and having our tail come unsewn is frightening. In a world that judges by appearances, it’s embarrassing having all the pink rubbed off your nose. The Velveteen Rabbit isn’t alone in wishing to become Real without any uncomfortable or unpleasant things happening.

One of the ways that we become Real without too much discomfort is by growing gradually into our authenticity. As you learn to acknowledge, accept, and appreciate what it is that makes you different from all the other toys in the cupboard, the process begins. As you learn to trust the wisdom of your heart and make creative choices based on what you know is right for you, process becomes progress. As you learn to endow even the smallest moment of each day with Love, progress becomes reality perfected. Your black-button eyes might have lost their polish, but now these windows to the soul see only beauty. You become not only Real to those who know and love you, but Real to everyone. You become authentic.”
