The Power of Sound ~ The Power of Your Song
Sound and music have been a main expression and source of support throughout my life. I’m very attuned to certain frequencies and there are only specific types of music that can move me at any given time. On the creative front, I’ve infused musical resonance as a form of healing and wholeness in my sessions, as personal sound channelings, and in sacred gatherings/journeys over the years. And in my personal space, I use music, sound, and singing as a way to move energy and access deeper wells of creativity. I find the throat chakra to be so powerful for healing, moving, and dislodging a lot of things in my life and when coming from that higher heart chakra area, that merges the throat and heart, it truly can be profound. It’s interesting to me that my favorite color has always been aqua and that directly links to this higher heart portal.
Sound has been an important facet of me since I was a baby in this life, and carried forth from “past” lives. In this life it has always been powerfully transformative and is something I have infused into my healing work and paintings, that sings to people through my embedding it in the process. But I have used musical sound for major shifts, including a profound experience in Egypt on my first of two trips there in this life, which I’ll touch briefly upon in a bit.
It continues to surface in deeper and more direct ways, and as always, I flow with where I’m guided.
I’ve expressed in article posts about mantra chanting already and how powerful that can be, but I love what my dear Faery sister Laura Bruno shared in a past post of hers about sound:
“Release energy by making a joyful noise unto the heavens. Watch what words you’re repeating through song, since music intensifies the power of words. Once you find sacred chants or affirmative songs you love, let ‘er rip. You’ll strengthen your throat and heart chakras, enabling you to align your words with your heart. You’ll also increase your intuition and spiritual awareness, joy (2nd chakra), confidence, and feel more grounded in your body through the physical act of singing instead of just mentally mumbling the words.”
So express whatever wants to come through you song-fully, as long as it is from the joy of your heart, and you will experience the power inherent in loving sound. It is life-altering, as sound is a Universal resonance that transcends.
Just remember to release judgments, to the best of your ability, while you are going through everything and to be gentle right now with all that you are processing and experiencing…and S L O W down a bit to breathe and be able to really focus on refocusing. The extra external stimulation with so much already going on in and around you can be enough to blow you out and keep you away from the core transformative things trying to get your attention – AND away from being in your heart.
Surrounding yourself with only things that mirror the new that you are focused on creating, and releasing all of the old toxicity in your life will be of great benefit.
And whichever supportive tools and experiences you feel drawn to – for me that is Reiki, my Crystal friends and animal companions, tons of Earth nature time (as Laura called it in her blog: “Get Dirty” time), doing only what feels right in my heart, retreat, and definitely a LOT of music and vibrationally moving it through my body and chakras in the form of lyrical resonance – utilize these well.
I like to think of the Universe as a giant symphony divinely orchestrated by the harmonic collective field of unique sound and energy frequencies expressed through each light instrument embodiment within all of creation.
I find energy and sound healing to be most powerful and now-aligned, as sound is vibration, which is a function of energy – what the Universe IS. Everything is frequency and because of this, sound has the ability, like Reiki, sacred symbolism, colors, mantras, toning, chanting, music…to vibrationally resonate on a deep cellular level to shift things within your karmic stored patterns, which affects your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states. It has the power to affect all levels of creation, while connecting you to Higher Consciousness.
We each have a personal home frequency, and since your body is a vibrational system, sound and energy can powerfully support you to return to that natural state of relaxed beingness. Sound healing is an ancient practice, like energy healing, that acts as a therapeutic tool, accompanied by intent, to support you back into your natural frequency balance, by freeing blockages and returning you to your higher vibrational state. When all parts of you are harmoniously vibrating, this restores well-being on all levels, as well as your ability to function as the empowered and bright light that you are.
“Music is to the nervous system what nutrients are to the body,” – Joshua Leeds
When you experience music or sound through someone channeling it or as your own personal experience of channeling, you become attuned to the energetical vibrational frequencies that are innately embedded within and this experience can be powerfully activating and ingniting in terms of healing, inspiration, empowerment, and overall wholeness of being.
The sound vibrations through voice and music put you into a temporary and suspended hypnotic state that induces a release from limitations and supports you in moving forward with liberation. They will also create a general experience of heightened well-being, sense of calm and peace, and overall harmony that helps to see you through the challenges of life in more balanced ways.
Everything in nature has a vibrational component and frequency and any form of sound in the Universe IS vibrational energy. Since our bodies are mainly composed of water, this makes them superb sound resonators and demonstrates why we react so efficiently and effectively to sound and vibration, just as Dr. Masaru Emoto brought forth through his research and book “The Hidden Messages in Water.” Sound actually travels fives times more efficiently through water than through air. It’s no wonder why cellular shifts within the body are so responsive when experiencing sound directed into it.
The whole Universe, according to ancient Indian texts and some of the latest works in quantum physics, was created through cosmic sound energy. This, followed by heat and light energy, then produces life forms, illustrating how intimately connected life energy, or prana, is to sound vibrations.
There is the possibility that the Universe began with One Sound, rather than The Big Bang…and if this in fact is the case, as mystics denote the basic sound of the Universe by Om for instance (considered the ultimate state of spiritual being that is heard at the highest peek of silence where all else disappears), then it is sound that emerges when life force energy or the very energy of life itself is experienced.
And each of us have our own signature song…or sound.
“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” -Maya Angelou
Sound or vibrational sound energy has been around and utilized since Ancient Times – its healing power secrets well known for its sacred alchemy in all areas of life and to connect to the divine as keys and codes activated through sound and able to create purely from a particular resonant tone. Ancients used sound for many things including healing on every level, as a form of communication through singing, inducing meditational trances, for rejuvenation at cellular levels, activating seeds for abundant crops, improving relations, as protection, to communicate with plants and animals, telepathically for all levels of communication, to create sacred spaces, to contact cosmic beings, to open gateways and portals, travel through time and space, etc.
Sound was held as the very essence of the life force and it was part of every tapestry of creation, stories, and sacred rituals – in many ways quite shamanic and magickal, as well as potent because it bypasses your mental faculties and defenses, as well as psychic blocks, so that you’re engaged vibrationally through emotion and spirit at a very core level that aids returning to natural harmony and wholeness.
Keening was a form of vocal lament (Gaelic – Irish/Scottish) by women mourning where they would invoke physical movements like rocking, clapping, or kneeling along with a very deep, expressive organized sound to channel their grief or sorrow.
I actually experienced this come through me, as a soul remembrance relived, when I lost Nestor. I mirrored this “keening” when she screamed and took her last breath. A friend and my then husband both witnessed and heard this. I remember my friend remarking on how it reminded her of this keening and I remember talking to Laura right after and she said that my voice sounded musical, despite my deep grief.
I also remember the waking dreams at night I would have not long before this took place, where I clearly heard myself singing in Gaelic, as a form of healing and communicating with Nature, and actually was, as it was heard in present time by my then husband. I’ve also had a friend share that I’ve chanted in Mayan in my sleep. And in Egypt, as shared before, I activated a deeper part of my voice and personal song, which also took place all around this time period – the biggest shift experienced to date.
Although I won’t go into the whole story here I will share that it was in Egypt that I learned and experienced the direct results of utilizing sound from my own voice to heal myself and create a huge physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual shift within me, which actually assisted my first Kundalini awakening. I instantaneously shifted my vibration by musical sound I channeled through me, going from deathly ill, feverish heat, aches, shaking, hunching over in pain, and throbbing throughout my body and crown chakra (that came on overnight due to major energetic shifts and reawakening on a cellular level), to harmonious balance, peace, and lightness in seconds, continuing into rebirthed vibrancy the next morning. It was quite a profound experience and story, but I also then had the opportunity to join my vibrational resonance with the frequencies emitted from the King’s Chamber of the Great Pyramid while laying in the sarcophagus, by channeling musical sound on my own through the top of the Pyramid and into the beyond.
One of the people there that day remarked:
“The sound that came from you, while you were in the sarcophagus of the King’s Chamber, is something I will never forget. I’m getting vibed right now. What came out of you was magical, mystical, angelic……. Words fail to paint the experience. I’m truly honored for the experience.” ~Michael, Arizona
Song and music was with me since a young child, always singing and my parents have tape recordings of me playing by myself, as I always did, singing away. And it’s always been a source of healing and empowerment into wholeness.
But it was my five years with Nestor, my beloved soul twin and rabbit in this life, that ignited sound in my life in deepening ways that integrated my soul Earth and Cosmic history with this.
Your throat is the bridge between the inner and outer world – the birth canal of you for inner/outer. It’s also the gateway between heart and mind.
I believe in making sound your own personal song, which will help you to find your voice, activate your DNA and chakras, and ignite the spark of life and creative joy within you.
When we tune in with our essence/innermost nature, we are also tuning in to the vibrations of the Universe and this creates expansion in terms of our identity beyond the limitations of ego-based definitions of self. Resonating at cellular levels allows the process of healing to take place. We can listen to our bodies and each chakra for vibrational alignments that are specific to each of us individually and that share our particular resonance mirrors that will activate the highest potentials within us.
I feel that the most powerful way to holistically integrate is through our very own body temples, utilizing our vehicles of life, and our individual voice. While tools and modalities outside of us are powerful to assist us, it is within us that lies the greatest power and when we remember, honor, embrace, and utilize what is within each of us innately, this will provide the potent key.
Some may chant, tone, sing, or simply allow what ever sound and movements wants through. The musical flow or lyrical resonance I personally enjoy and find powerful is something similar to what is referred to as immanence: an inherent divine presence/transcendent – without limits of possible experience or knowledge.
It may involve any of the above mentioned, but it becomes musical and tells a story, as well as is like multi-layered vocal journeys infused with resonant meaning and frequency. It’s an “experience” and is what I would think of as conscious channeling of energy through your individual creative self-expression center – ancient…cosmic…timeless.
It is not a comprehensible language, although at time might sound like ancient words or sounds that remind one of ancient or cosmic languages. It’s about releasing judgment and logic, to allow the sound frequency from feeling resonance to move through you without articulation of understanding. It is from the nature of your emotions and the super-intelligence of your soul, not the learned-intelligence of the mind.
Just as Nature’s tendency is harmony, our bodies also innately want to return to natural harmony when we are out of harmony. Illness manifests from disharmony within the body. Sound vibrations affect our emotional states and can tune our body parts just as you would tune your instrument to achieve optimal resonance and musical harmony. Sound helps us to achieve deep meditational states, slows our pulse, restores our breath, and permeates every cell with greater peace and normal rhythm.
The sound from your voice, which I believe is the most powerful tool for shifting your personal frequency, links your unique voice to a Universal network of vibrations that is harmonized like a Cosmic symphony and keeps you in natural rhythm with ALL.
When we come from a pure place with our “song” with all of our inner most self, we help to shift the frequency of ourselves and others into a match of that resonance. It’s the same with “holding the space,” as we say, or “being the example” in embodiment, of a certain vibration/frequency. This resonance produces a mirroring resonance.
Each of us is a vibrational being radiating frequencies that are like a collection of vibrations equaling a “song.” This song emanates to others and is received subconsciously, producing responses in reflection to those vibrations. This is why words are not needed to convey things when sent telepathically.
This is also why we resonate with certain vibrations and sounds that reinforce our vibrational song, and create a sense of well-being, as harmony is reflected. Everything and everyone has a song and each song is a part of the collective and boundless symphony of all creation.
I leave you with this story that comes from a traditional story passed on in Griot tradition. It is rewritten by Jane Maluka and Dan Millman, Author of Way of the Peaceful Warrior, reworked it for one of his newsletters in April 2005:
“When a woman in one African tribe knows she is pregnant, she goes out into the wilderness with a few friends and together they pray and meditate until they hear the song of the child.
They recognize that every soul has its own vibration that expresses its unique flavor and purpose.
When the women attune to the song, they sing it out loud. Then they return to the tribe and teach it to everyone else.
And when children are born into the village, the community gathers and sings their song, one unique melody for each unique child.
Later, when children begin their education, the village gathers and chants each child’s song. They sing again when each child passes into the initiation of adulthood, and at the time of marriage.
Finally, when the soul is about to pass from this world, the family and friends gather at the bedside, as they did at birth, and they sing the person to the next life. In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the Villagers sing to the child: If at any time during a person’s life, he or she commits a crime or aberrant social act, that individual is called to stand in the center of a circle formed by all members of the tribe. And once again the villagers chant the child’s song.
The tribe recognizes that the proper correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment, but love and the remembrance of identity.
When you recognize your own song, you have no desire or need to do anything that would hurt another. A friend is someone who knows your song and sings it to you when you have forgotten it.
Those who love you are not fooled by the mistakes you have made or the dark images you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly; your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty; and your purpose when you are confused.
You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are in tune with yourself and when you are not.
When you feel good, what you are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn’t. In the end, we shall all recognize our song, and we shall sing it well.
You may feel a little wobbly at that moment, but so have all the great singers. Just keep singing and you’ll find your way home.”

Tania – I cried reading your post today, I was tortured, than suddenly I gained back my power:)
aw mihran that is really beautiful. so happy it felt renewing for you. you are such an amazing musical artist. thank you for sharing your gifts with the world ❤
I totally resonate with this, Tania. While I was reading your post I was trying to figure out how to find this story that I know, to send to you, and there it was at the end of your post! It also makes me think of the excruciatingly loud seismic vibrations the navy is putting into our oceans and blowing out the ear drums of the dolphins and whales as they try to sing their songs to one another. I thought we had them convinced not to do it, but they are at it again.
I love this post. I love to sing and music has been huge throughout my entire life as well. I can just see you as a sweet little girl singing by yourself. I did the same. I do believe that the frequency of music affects us emotionally, physically and spiritually. I am going to bring music through more. Thank you so much.
Mary
love that synchronicity, which strikes again! so awesome you also knew that story. it’s such a beautiful one. i love it so much!
yes, it’s very sad what our cetacean and animal friends in general endure from our non-natural creations we think we need to have.
so appreciate your resonation with this post. it’s a very special one for me. i’m really happy it inspired more music to flow through you once again! yay!! love and hugs ❤

Another blog that wanted to go back up – this one focusing on the power of sound. I shared this one back in 2015 and the importance of sound and music has only continued to increase in my life both through voice and creation of music. With recent creative projects I’ve been sound channeling and singing like crazy – perhaps this aiding to the flow and shift in what I’ve been creating. I hope you enjoy this blast from the past and the story at the end.
Side note: For anyone who’s been in search of unusual quartz crystal sound bowls or musical instruments like chakra drums, I have some available at below retail costs because of a friend who is a sound healer and had connections to get them for me. I’ve made some recent upgrades and Astrid has shared we can release these so I may put them in our Etsy shop, but for anyone interested before listing them publicly, please contact me for details.

This is a lovely post Tania. It sounds like you had a miraculous experience with sound in the Egyptian temple. I’ve often felt the power of sound and music, but not used it so consciously to tune and align my energies. This could be fun to play with. Hugs and sounds….
oh thanks so much brad!! yeah, you’re right. it was one of the most incredible experiences of my lifetime – both with sound and the entire trip. i think i remember you mentioning resonance as well with sound/music. 🙂 i agree! could open a whole fun door of possibilities! weeeee! i’m truly amazed at how instant the results are. ❤ hugs, sounds, and stuff! lol! you knew i couldn't let that opportunity go
to silly soulful sounds! 🙂
