Sacred Samurai & Dragon 3/4 Sleeve Tattoo Design
I just completed the first of three sacred tattoo designs I am in process of co-creating. These three new creations have been percolating the last couple of weeks, since my return from Bimini, as I have learned not to rush the process and that the perfect moment will reveal itself as to when the design can be channeled in its fullness.
These new designs are all being created with amazing male clients and each of these pieces are quite involved, large, and uniquely span Japanese, Native American Indian/Shamanistic, and African origins of essence. They are exciting to me because they feel to be symbolic representations of how each of my clients are empowering their Divine Female and Male into integration at this juncture on their life journey – a beautiful manifestation of the new energy we are in.
Interestingly, 2 of the clients live in South Africa and one has been traveling in South Africa. So they definitely feel energetically connected, despite their individual uniqueness.
Who knows…it may also be another confirming sign that Africa will be the next upcoming personal sacred journey (I have had a lot of Africa energy and connections taking place the last couple of years), as last year I had felt called there for this year, but the energy switched and Tibet came through, so hence I follow where I’m guided, as everything has a divine timing.
Regardless, I have been excited about these designs and today I share the first. The design is a large, just over 12″ long by 4 3/4″ wide, three quarter, left arm sleeve.
The focal points are the Samurai and the Japanese Dragon (Ryu). I added an extra boost of the element of water, based on what I intuited and my client shared, as well as interwove a very spiritually alchemical symbolism that holds much power for him in the celebration of essence he desired it to have.
For my client, the Samurai expresses the practices of discipline, respectfulness, loyalty and ethical behavior without fear – reminders symbolically to be able to face different and unexpected situations without fear and not to live in fear of loss.
I was drawn to depict a less armored Samurai than an example that I was shown by my client, still very traditional, yet for me and in resonance with the empowerment he was to symbolize. I felt this would represent moving into the courage in knowing all you have and need is within you, without the need to cover up and protect – a Samurai standing his ground, in the recognition of his power rather than in an angry fight. This symbolizing more of that Dragon Master or Magician essence that I speak about in my Reiki 2 classes where rather than fight something (although prepared for anything), you embrace its reflection as an aspect of you projected and when integrated back, creates wholeness and empowerment.
I added water designs all around the image to symbolize my client’s strong love for the ocean and to represent the ability to flow with the currents of life and be able to weather any experience by sailing through the ebbs and flows of the ocean energy with grace, rather than fighting it.
The Dragon, “Ryu,” rules the water and for my client represents obstacles humans face through life that must be overcome before enlightenment can be attained. So the Dragon represents much more than its literal depiction, but the many challenges, steps, surprises, obstacles, doorways one may experience on the journey of life. And how they are perceived and integrated can make all the difference.
Dragons are one of the four celestial animals and are more traditionally known to represent a very Yang energy of male vigor, courage, vitality, strength, and bravery. However, I feel the dragon to also possess a very mystical Yin energy, as a magickal being of cosmic forces. The Japanese dragon, which is what my client wanted designed, is much more slender and typically depicted as a large, wingless serpentine creature with 3 claws on each foot. Most Japanese dragons are water deities associated with large bodies of water and rainfall. Japanese dragons, interestingly, are a composite of nine different animals with chin whiskers.
- Deer – Horns
- Camel – Head
- Rabbit – Eyes
- Snake – Neck
- Cockle – Abdomen
- Carp – Scales
- Eagle – Claws
- Tiger – Paws
- Ox – Ears
I was drawn to design this beautiful dragon holding a ball, or “pearl of wisdom,” in its clawed foot. In reverence, Eastern dragons are sometimes shown holding a pearl, which can symbolize success, victory, wisdom, prosperity, achievement, and good luck. This felt to be a powerful, tying-in aspect to include for this sacred tattoo design.
I noticed after completing it that the flow of the design created double infinity signs, which was a very cool, natural unfoldment and another magickal aspect added to its energy. 🙂 In ancient India and Tibet this symbol represented perfection, dualism, and unity between male and female. In tarot it is linked to magick and symbolizes balance of various forces. It is also linked to the Ouroboros of cyclicality and enternal rebirth and recreation. In general it is the endlessness, abundant renewal, and eternity of Source.
This is a very empowering tattoo that depicts the mastering of the “Dragon,” as enlightenment is achieved, rather than a fight over or against it.

Introducing My Giant Quartz Crystal Skull – Raja Seraphina
I couldn’t help myself but to snap a photo of my cherished Quartz Crystal Skull friend, Raja Seraphina, as I walked by her upon waking this morning. R.S., as I’ll lovingly call her, sits atop her silver and gold mirror mosaic table at the entry to my sanctuary domain office/art studio/meditative space. The way the morning sun, at just the right angle, was hitting her, was such a beautiful vision to behold.
The sun was peeking through my shutters and the tiny holes in my five silver-chromed dome holders that surround each tear drop bulb of my standing lamp in such a way as to cast a warm glow and project orb-like lights onto my wall tapestry in a random sequence not mirroring how they actually are. These light orb projections are an interesting coding remind me of the Mayan number system.
Definitely felt so celestial and that Raja Seraphina was drawing my attention, of which I took note. 🙂
With her lovely illuminated sign today, I felt it was a good time to officially introduce her to the world with more detail about her energy. My guess is she will be expressing more in the days, months and year to come.
Raja Seraphina came into my life about 4 years ago in 2009 (will be 4 at the end of this month). I had been searching for and intending to find the perfect crystal skull, which took me a while to finally connect with. She is a giant Quartz Crystal Skull that is the same size as a human skull, but she definitely carries extraterrestrial origins.
After having spent two private sessions with the Crystal Skull, Max, and one private session with the Crystal Skull Sha Na Ra, when they came to a spiritual center I frequented in Reno while I was living in the Reno/Tahoe area, I knew that the crystal skull energy was one for me to be working with and tapping into more.
Upon a trip to bring home some crystal friends from the Quartzsite Rock, Gem and Mineral show in La Paz County, AZ and the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show with dear friend Amy, I had the good fortune of finding R.S. We had ventured to Quartzsite first, and while I found lovely pieces, no crystal skull friend spoke to me. We were actually there at the end of January and very, very start of February, not realizing that the Tucscon Gem Show would not be fully up and running yet. But we ventured there anyway and discovered many of the crystal merchants just setting up shop, so we were able to get first viewing and picking of what was coming out!
There are advantages to getting there at the start and at the end. The start offers you first look and opportunity at the selections and the end offers you the greatest bargains. However, Amy and I had a knack for always drawing in great connections, transactions, and divine timing, which resulted in great buys regardless. 🙂
I had searched the year before at the show and while I found many skulls that were lovely, I didn’t find “The One.” And the same happened at any store I went to in Sedona, or anywhere I would end up, and kept an eye out for one.
But it was just as we first entered the Tucson Gem Show that we stumbled upon a merchant who was just taking out his crystal skulls in the side and back area of his booth. He had a ton of other crystals and the skulls only made up a tiny fraction of his offerings. I immediately was drawn to R.S. and so was Amy (although she wasn’t looking for one herself, she was assisting in my search energetically). We both fell in love and she just felt so right. My pendulum agreed big time finally too!
She definitely was “The One.”
Bringing her home, along with several other large pieces I had gotten on this trip was quite the experience. I had them all in a rolling suitcase and upon my going through security at the airport, I was stopped. Apparently, my crystal skull showed up as something resembling a warning on security visuals and so they opened my back to find out what it was. Low and behold they discovered my Crystal Skull and then I had all of security around in awe and wondering if I was traveling with the Crystal Skulls from the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull movie that had “just” come out shortly before. LOL!
Needless to say, they were intrigued and let the little faery supportively rolling more than her weight in crystals, on her way.
And so it came to be that Raja Seraphina came home with me to Lake Tahoe. A little while after, I decided to see if she wanted to share her name. I knew she was more feminine in energy, but what I discovered was something very similar to what my dear Nestor (my departed twin soul bunny) held energetically.
I placed my third eye to hers (and by the way she has a lovely pastel rainbow at her third eye and in several areas around the back and sides of her crown) and waited to receive. What came to me very clearly was the name Raja Seraphina.
This was very interesting to me, as the two names carried very opposite, yet equally powerful energies – one male and one female – and the combination of the two meanings and energy definitely shared the gentle and integrative power of the Divine Male and Divine Female that “she” held:
Raja means king, prince, or chief in India or the East Indies.
Wikipedia shares: Raja (also spelled rajah, from Sanskrit राज rāja-) is an Indian term for a monarch, or princely ruler of the Kshatriya varna.
The Free Dictionary shares: Word History: Raja or Rajah is familiar to us from the Sanskrit r
j
, “king,” and mah
r
j
, “great king.” The Sanskrit root raj-,“to rule,” comes from the Indo-European root *reg-, “to move in a straight line, direct, rule.” The same Indo-European root appears in Italic (Latin) and Celtic. R
x means “king” in Latin, coming from *reg-s, whence our regal and, through French, royal. Two of the Gaulish kings familiar to us from Caesar, Dumnorix and Vercingetorix, incorporate the Celtic word r
x, “king,” in their names. (R
x also forms part of the name of that fictitious, indomitable Gaul Asterix.) Germanic at some time borrowed the Celtic word r
x. It appears as reiks, “ruler,” in Gothic, as well as in older Germanic names ending in -ric, such as Alaric and Theodoric, the latter of whom has a name that is equivalent to German Dietrich,“people’s king.” A derivative of Celtic r
x, *r
g-yo-, meaning “rule, domain,” was also borrowed into Germanic, and is the source of German Reich, “rule, empire.”
As for Seraphina, this name carries a beautiful meaning as well. Seraphina, also Serafina, has a meaning of ardent and fiery, yet also carries a gentle grace. The highest-ranking in the hierarchy of angels, the six-winged seraphim, inspire this name. The feminine form of the Late Latin name Seraphinus, derived from the biblical word seraphim which was Hebrew in origin and meant “fiery ones”. The Latinate version Serafina is also Italian, Polish, and Portuguese.
The story of St. Serafina holds another element to this name’s energy – that of kindness, patience, and love in the face of pain, rejection and destitution. It’s a story of a young Italian girl who through her experiences reaches a state of holiness that imparts a lesson for us of achieving the same serenity and love in the midst of our sufferings.
Needless to say, I hope you enjoy meeting Raja Seraphina as I share her here. She is a beautifully powerful being that I am grateful to have as a friend and teacher.
Surrounded by Serenity & Reflection: The Essence of a New Year Embodied in My First Day of 2013
I always like to follow my own traditions and create new ways for celebrating that resonate with me. This year was no exception and having already felt like I had fully celebrated my idea of Christmas and the New Year while in Bimini just days before the holidays, I was feeling quite complete and ready to start integrating some of my inner journey that will hit come my birthday this year on February 26th, as I enter a #7 personal year in numerology.
I’ve consistently found that I am a couple months ahead in starting to integrate and process the next year’s energy right before it actually hits, always experiencing literal shifts that start to trickle in, as I put to closure the previous year’s energy.
For me, the trip in Bimini was closure to many things, as well as the beginning of a new journey. I foresee the promise of much beauty for all, as we enter a new cycle of our collective journey.
Moving into a 7 personal year promises to bring more deep reflection, introspection, contemplation, meditation, pause, and time spent exploring life’s deeper truths and how these convey through my actions. This seems perfectly aligned with how I have been feeling after quite a full year of experiences, focused work, and an integration of Yang that brought trials and tribulations and Yin that through embracing the process and doing the work, created a sense of harmonious peace within.
#7 years provide opportunity to come to a greater awareness of your full potential and to honor and understand when personal time is needed to be within one’s own experience or in quiet activities. A time for letting things come to you, realizing the power of intents and the foundations of hard work invested, so as to experience thoughts and ideas materializing now from all your efforts. Definitely it’s a time for gaining greater insight, efficiency, and powerful centeredness, to fully understand and experience the full circle of being alone, without every being or feeling lonely. In general, gaining depth of understanding, refinement of skills and talents, knowing when to withdraw or free yourself from outside responsibilities to find the balance needed for wholeness and inner peace, and a time when integrating clear thoughts are at a high. Cultivating these skills will produce valuable results.
Each birthday cycle we all enter a new personal year that carries with it the energy of the number it corresponds to numerologically, as well as do we collectively enter a new year of shared experiences at the birth of each New Year. I shared a bit about the collective #6 year we are entering in yesterday’s post on Reiki Workshops that support the energy of 2013.
As 2012 neared end, I was already feeling the shift into this more reflective mode and the need to bring in even more within time to myself or away from the outside world, so as to hone in on truly integrating and bringing fullness and depth to all that is being cultivated right now with my soul integration experience. Really honoring the need to balance the energies and what the body and soul desires to be of greatest benefit to it (being mindful of where to place focus and energy), is not only reflective of my personal 7 year I’m moving into, but is truly the way we are all moving into needing to learn to understand and honor to reach great potentials.
Of course this inner journey reflects through the type of work I will be focusing on and how that work also manifests, including the way things will come through me in the process – all really resulting in a deepening experience all around and the need to sit with the quietness in order to receive what wants to be shared and how. Definitely a tapping in to Source with greater conscious presence, as there are always unlimited ways to further our experiences. Sometimes I am able to be amidst tons of outer things and be fine, as the energy calls for that, but now there will be a weighing of what works best with the energy currents I am experiencing both inside and in mirror of the collective Earth’s energy, so reflection and recharging will become more prevalent.
Interestingly, this is the year I am feeling called to Tibet, which chimes perfectly in tune with my energy vibrations. On New Year’s day, I felt like the experience chosen to have, to honor the first of 2013, was in direct alignment with all that I’m expressing and what I am preparing for in Tibet.
Welcoming in the first day of the New Year immersing in the serenity and purity of the snow at Mt. Baden Powell was a beautiful way to kick start things. It was perfect and magickal to get away from everything in the mountains and be with the stillness that surrounded both within and without. Dave and I drove up to the San Gabriel Mountains to an area south-west of the town of Wrightwood with a packed picnic lunch of raw vegan goodies for the day and set out on a two mile trail that scaled the mountain side and then trekked another 4 miles in the snow on the Bighorn Mine Trail, perched at 7,000 feet, where we explored some old gold mines dating back to the early to mid 1890’s.
Bighorn Mile Trail: The trail starts in the Vincent Gap Parking lot, along with the Mine Gulch Trail. Soon after the start, the Mine Gulch Trail drops down into Vincent Gulch while the Bighorn Mine Trail continues around the side of Mt Baden Powell. Less than half way through the trail there is a mining tunnel on the side of the mountain, right on the trail. As you continue around the side of the mountain, eventually you will hit the main Bighorn Mine, which has mining structures and tunnels. This area is rich in history, as mining played a role in the past of the town of Wrightwood. The mine itself is closed off, however the views from this area are amazing as you peer over Mine Gulch, down toward the San Gabriel River Basin (East Fork). Like most places in the Sheep Mountain Wilderness, you can also see Pine Mountain, Dawson Peak, Mt Baldy, Iron Mountain, Blue Ridge, and Pine Mountain Ridge.

Rainbow energy inside the mine now – do you think there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow they are leading me to? Certainly felt to be elves and faeries present on this hike
The first mine is closed off with a little flow of water coming from it. The second is no longer fully closed off, as a hole has been created large enough to climb inside and so we did indeed explore the first section of it where there is also some water run off. Enter at your own risk! Getting to this area in the snow was quite a trek and with areas of very narrow trail, snow and ice, with steep drop off on one side, it definitely is one to take with great care and patience, but well worth it for the serenity, majestic views, and to visit this old mine cradled in the side of the mountain.
There was indeed a presence of energy felt on this day and in and around the second mine, which showed up in a few of the photos. (See photo captions and click on each photo to enlarge for detail). The experiences and photos really seemed to tell the energetic tale of what I feel to come and what I received in my annual New Year’s Eve tarot reading share trade 😉
The signs are clear, the support is there, the foundational work has been laid, the commitments and responsibility embraced….This trek on the Bighorn trail was very reflective of my current journey, the orbs of support met along the way, both the ease and some of the integrated challenges still to come, and the destination of the gold mine at rainbow’s end, was a beautiful message of continued trust, gratitude, and patience, for all things are coming together beautifully in the bigger picture of creation.
Always grateful for the supportive guidance and love experienced, felt, and making itself known.
On the way home we were detoured through the Mojave Desert, which lies on one side of the mountain. It was definitely the out-of-the-way longer route home, but seemed to add to the energy of patient reflection and being able to take in the desert and mountain experience.

Red orb energy with something inside it showing up next to me inside the mine looking towards the opening
The day was a beautiful experience within, reminding me of my beloved Lake Tahoe home I miss and how much I love to “be” in the stillness of nature’s beauty, as well as how much I love and thrive at high altitudes. Another foreshadowing of my soul connection to Tibet and how much I enjoyed trekking in the high altitudes of Peru up to 15,000 feet and living at the glacial, crystalline, and alpine lake of Tahoe.
It was the perfect way to experience and honor the new energy of 2013 and to anchor in the integration of a new experience personally and collectively.
I hope you all spent the welcoming of 2013 in your own sacred way. ♥ It is going to be a beautiful year.
2013 Accelerated Reiki Workshops in Reno & New Jersey – Opening to Living & Giving from Your Heart
2013 is here and the energy of this year holds a lot of potential for harmony within and without, above and below. In numerology this is a #6 year for the collective and is about nurturing, caring, truth, order, justice, service to humanity, finding balance between giving and receiving, making responsible choices, connectedness, union, love, combining mind and imagination for intellectual creativity, sense of security and sanctuary at your core and in the home, and peace, to name a few things. 🙂
In the spirit of unconditional love, grace, healers and teachers, humanitarianism and responsibility – focuses that will be guiding us through this year’s experiences as a whole – being of service and finding the strength and color of your unique thread in the tapestry of the collective community will help you to illuminate your leadership role, as is uniquely mirroring of you.
This is a time of great change and empowering your voice in ways that will enhance your life and the lives of everyone you touch.
Reiki is a beautiful expression of unconditional love and service that can empower your life and unite you with others, as it bridges you together through the source of Universal Life Force Energy.
If you’ve been feeling the desire to connect more deeply with yourself and others, or needing loving support to help bring you back to wholeness from the intense shifts taking place in your life and around you, then taking a journey of the heart to help anchor in the acceleration of experiences, at the core, may be of resonance to you.
Reiki is one tool that can support this and is an option that perfectly mirrors the essence of this year.
In response to continual requests (especially from people/clients outside of my area) and in honoring the guidance coming through, I have been called to offer more opportunities both non-locally and locally, as well as to offer discount specials, in order to support as many people that would like to embark on the journey of Reiki.
I will continue to offer private classes here in Southern California, but also will have many opportunities for Accelerated Reiki Workshop Weekends and retreats (like the one in Bimini) in different areas to support those who are ready to embrace things on a whole new level.
Reiki has the ability to bring greater sense of self, clarity, empowerment, peace, joy, and deeper love and compassion. The focus is on learning, sharing, supporting and expanding your heart through Reiki (pronounced ray-key). The practice of channeling Reiki is an easy-to-learn, gentle and powerful system of natural healing that reduces stress, induces relaxation, supports intentions and provides many other healing benefits. The Reiki classes I offer are part of the Traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Certification Training.
If you’ve been interested in taking a class and embarking on this life-changing and empowering path, then one of these weekends, detailed below, may be the perfect answer for you. Whether you are new to Reiki, have already been through some of the levels, are preparing to teach and want a refresher, or want to incorporate Reiki into your current healing practice, you will find these classes to be supportive and timely in terms of the now. If you have trained with another teacher that is no longer accessible for you, you can continue your training with me, if that resonates, after we discuss where you are at in your process and what would most be supportive in reflection of that.
These offerings are provided with intention to help you to step gracefully into learning how to support yourself, other people and animals towards compassionate goals, intentions and worldwide healing and change for our New Earth.
Below you will find information on two upcoming Accelerated Reiki Workshops that will be kicking off the New Year this month of January and in February. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be spreading the Reiki love both on the west and east coast! Yay! So if you have been interested in learning Reiki, now is your chance if you’re in or around these areas, to gift yourself or someone you love, with a life-changing opportunity that will affect everyone and everything you touch.
Please contact me at tania@taniamarie.com with questions and to register. You can find all details below on the workshops both in Reno, Nevada and Nutley, New Jersey. More Reiki Workshops will be announced soon.
In these workshops you will be trained, initiated, and certified in Reiki 1, 2, and 3, as well as enjoy practicing with the group and receiving valuable insights and personal attention.
You have the option of taking the whole accelerated weekend or just Saturday’s Reiki 1 and 2 classes or Sunday’s Reiki 3 Master Teacher class individually, depending on your desires and needs.
Non-local classes must be registered and paid for no later than two days before class begins, as I need to prepare all materials before traveling and know how many people will be attending.
