About Reiki:

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy - a vital force which permeates all living things. Rei, meaning Universal and ki, meaning Life Energy/Life Force (same as Chi in Chinese). It is a gentle and powerful system of natural healing that acts as a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation with many healing benefits. Reiki is that primal energy that emanates continuously from the single source of Universal power and existence. Reiki orginated in Tibet thousands of years ago where Tibetan monks had mastered the science or art of tapping the Universal Life Force Energy, for man's use in healing and self-transformation, to eventually lead to spiritual enlightenment, and was taught to a selected and disciplined few. Reiki was rediscovered in the mid to late 1800's by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese monk, theological scholar and teacher who found a way to connect to the Reiki healing energy through his studies and practices. He spent the latter part of his life using and teaching his wonderful knowledge. The Usui System of Natural Healing, which Reiki is also referred to as, is named after Usui. Reiki reached the western world through Mrs. Hawayo Takata, the first woman to receive master training, and Reiki continues to be practiced and passed down to Reiki Masters worldwide.
Reiki works in harmony to improve the effectiveness and benefits of all other types of therapy, treatment, and healing modalities. It helps to stimulate the body's own natural healing abilities. It is a spiritually guided life energy with Rei, as the Universal Consciousness guiding the life energy, ki, through its own wisdom. Reiki flows automatically and knows just where to go and what to do, communicating with the person's Higher Self to align it. Since it is guided by Universal Consciousness, it is always helpful and can never do harm. The practitioner is there to help transmit the flow of Reiki, but they are not the one doing the healing. One does not have to believe in it or not, to receive the benefits. It can only enhance an individual's spiritual and/or religious experience. Therefore there is no need to change your present belief system, as Reiki is not a religion.
Reiki is a vibrational energy technique that balances, harmonizes, and restores our energy systems by using the energy centers in the palms of the hands. The hands are placed gently in different positions on, or over, (several inches above) the body. Reiki can also be administered from a distance, which creates the same results. Treatments are normally an hour and psychologically, this 1 hour Reiki treatment is equivalent to about 4 hours of sleep, which makes Reiki a very effective stress reliever. Reiki treatments can also alleviate the roots of ill-health and stimulate a great feeling of general well-being, as well as being great for a general tune-up or tonic in times of "normal" health.
Reiki may be used for both self-help and to support others. It is a very powerful aid to personal growth, as it works on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level. The energy is drawn through (not from) the practitioner's body, ensuring that their own energy is not depleted, which results in a feeling of rebalance and enhancement by the energies flowing through them.
Reiki is like luminous energy that expresses from the Universal Heart, as one consciously reconnects and harmonizes the fragmented self with Universal Oneness. It is a safe, gentle, natural, easy-to-learn healing technique. Once your body has been attuned to connect and to receive it, you have Reiki for life. Reiki is something we all innately have access to and use often without even knowing it. The process of an attunement just supports us in accessing and remembering this gift we have to use. It also helps us to refine that gift for personal use and in our service to others. There is no greater gift one can offer, than the energy of Unconditional Love, which is Reiki.

Things One Might Experience During A Reiki Treatment:
Usually, a person feels a pleasant, warm heat on the area that is being treated, and/or any other areas that the Reiki energy is drawn to. This deeply warming relaxation is part of the releasing of energy blockages within the body and can also manifest in several other types of experiences such as coughing, rumbling or gurgling in the stomach, rushes of energy in the body, tingling, a sense of peace, which can promote one to fall asleep, etc.....These are all great indications that the treatment is working and should not cause any concern. Some people may feel nothing during a treatment as well, but this is not an indication that the Reiki has not worked. Reiki works whether we are conscious of it or not. We are all unique and therefore we experience on an individual basis. The amount of Reiki received and accepted is always determined by the recipient.

It is not necessary that a client be physically present for a session. Reiki allows for the practitioner to be able to facilitate treatments at a distance. Both full sessions and healing attunements can be administered even if one lives in a different city, state, or country, or simply is unable to attend in person. The person responds the same way and the result is no different. A day and time will be set prior to the treatment so the client can be present with the energy they are receiving and find a peaceful space and time for doing so.
Each in-person session is accompanied by beautiful, supportive, background music.
Reiki sessions are not intuitive or psychic sessions. I teach and treat standard Usui Reiki and do not draw upon psychic energy or do readings during sessions. The sessions are meant to be a supportive partnership. If I happen to get a hit on something I will share, but sessions are about energy balancing and enjoying the flow of that energy to relax in, embrace and open to, so as to allow the maximum benefits possible.
Reiki for pets is available too by distance. Animals benefit from Reiki the same as humans and respond immensely to the energy.
